About 30 years ago some autistic chad hijacked a local T.V. broadcast in Chicago to put on an incomprehensible 90 second skit where he pretends to be Max Headroom, spouts garbled non-sequitur, wears a dildo on his finger and gets spanked by a witch with a flyswatter. Apparently this would have required a fair deal of technical know-how and access to very expensive equipment, but the FCC never caught him.

People who slag on the cameraman don't realize some basic facts:

- Most of the dead were dead within 2 minutes of ignition. By 90 seconds, the entire club was engulfed in poisonous smoke loaded with cyanide gas and carbon monoxide. A few breaths of that was all it took to kill. The cameraman made it out at 90 seconds, JUST ahead of the wall of smoke. He was incredibly lucky to have made it out at all.
- The pileup at the front was immovable. Even teams of very strong firefighters couldn't budge it. They tried throwing water on the victims, but it helped not one bit. Almost all the victims in the doorframe burned to death despite rescue being right there.
- It would have been utter suicide for the cameraperson to go back into that wall of smoke and hot gasses to attempt a rescue. Even the firefighters were driven out of the building within a minute of arrrival by the intense heat, flames, and building collapses that began in under 4 minutes from the first fire engine pulling up.

The cameraman was no hero, but guess what? All he would have accomplished was to add himself to the list of victims. I can't blame hhim for not wanting to go there.
