Because Hollywood is a monopoly, and it's shit. Most of the major movies are written by a very small number of people who keep repeating tropes in a predictable way. Also embedding messaging which is usually lobbied for by various pressure groups (such as the ADL, or the US military).
The best escape hatch is anime. You have fresh ideas, innovative storylines (although not always), and lots of creativity. If you've been watching Hollywood shows and you see an anime, it's very fresh and exciting, you have no idea what will happen
