Interesting, is Muhammad/Muhammed used primarily as a first and middle name in the Muslim world?

BAAAAASED what is the direct translation for -nen? Does it mean "from" or somehing like that?

It would be weird for them to be named Muhammed Muhammed wouldn't it?

Literally it is a suffix added to a noun to turn it into a diminutive though this is not how it is used when last names. With last names it really has no explicit meaning, it just became common to add it when Finland moved away from landed names and patronymics. I guess it just makes last names based on nature or geography sound more like a proper last name.

>Nilsson
best sson name

Lol based

Can someone be named for example Suomalainen and it means "man from Finland"?

>Can someone be named for example Suomalainen and it means "man from Finland"?
Yes. Also I had a schoolmate whose surname was "Ruotsalainen" (a man from Sweden) in my class.

t. other user

That would be Björnsson in my opinion or Torbjörnsson

Hmm. Hmm so if someone had the name for rock in Finnish google says it is "kivi" and then "kivilainen" would it be the man who came from the rock?

Yeah. "Kivinen" would mean "stony".

and you are wrong in everyone elses opinion

One guy in my economics class year was named Hassan Mohammad Ali Muhammed, he was from Somalia

Badass

Huh maybe they do have last names like that then.....strange!

Sounds like a typical Hollywood movie villain

those sound like polish names wtf

I think Polish names have a lot of pzn and -ecki endings

not at all, polish surnames don't end in -w. If a new student had one of these surnames we'd all think it's an ukro

send her to me so we can make more nilssons

Most muslim i knew around here used "Muhammad" as their first name. The use of "Muhammad" as the last name is probably more common in central asia.
