/entg/ - Entrepreneurship General

casually walking edition
In this thread, I'm going to compile the best passive income streams ordered by investment required, including both online and offline options
Little to no Investment($100-$1k)
>Dropshipping
>Social Media Marketing
>Digital Media or Marketing of any kind
>Web Development
>Freelance software development
>Affiliate Marketing
>Making Online Courses

Some Investment Required($1k-10k)
>ATMs
>POS Systems
>Slumlording
>Daytrading
>P2P Lending
>Authoring or Online publishing
>Vending Machines
>Automated News sites or any kind of automated blog
>Automated online Arbitrage with the help of a buybot

Large Investment Required, but still very passive(10k+)
>Parking Garages or lots
>Laundromats
>Batting Cages
>Rental Properties
>Buying Royalty rights on music, media, etc

I'm sure there are dozens of others that are out there but that's what I can think of off the top of my head. I personally do 6 of these and those 6 are my only streams of income. They are:
>an ATM business with 10 machines at $3/transaction $200max
>Three affiliate sites
>A parking lot near my university(extremely high revenue but also my highest expenses)
>Digital Media/Marketing Agency which I have people running so I rarely have to be involved
>One rental property(barely profitable yet)
And the big kicker
>subscription based SaaS products, two of them with a third well on the way

Feel free to add more and share your knowledge, experience, advice with others, but I think that's a lot of value that you won't find in most threads here.

any ideas for a small business for someone, who is also studying and has 3k to start with?

I realize I'm setting myself up for failure, but how do I grow an artist business? I do digital art commissions, anime/manga style, but can't get people to realize I exist since the field is so damn saturated

I posted a few months ago about manufacturing PC watercooler units using advanced manufacturing (like the CERN coolers). I'm trying to make a prototype but the startup costs using conventional techniques would be prohibitive.
I'm trying to solve that but it's still in the work. If it works, my manufacturing costs would probably drop to 100-150€ per water block.

one of my friends who runs his own business said he will give me a commission for any of his products that I can sell. he sells niche mining products. do I just start calling mining firms? how do I get past the roastie secretary? any tips for an online presence? it’d be a side job to do at night but I want to give it a good try

Your numbers need to have a couple 0s thrown on them to be of value. Also do something dangerous that people need to get done.

t. Entrepreneur that makes 3-10k a day checking his laptop and on his employees for about 3 hours a day

>Social Media Marketing
>Digital Media or Marketing of any kind

Because these can be started by anyone with an internet connection, you will enjoy competing with one billion different "agencies" from all over india and africa on one hand, and with multi-billion companies with hundreds of people in their teams.

Tough market.

You are going to sell mining equipment at night? Haha you are retarded

I meant to expound on this last thread but it was closed. Each social media platform has its own seemingly unique strategy for reaching people.

My personal twitter has 100 followers, I follow like 200 people or so. During the election, because of a few replies on wikileaks tweets, I had over a million engagements in the course of a few days.

some creative marketing aimed at controversy, even with a low conversion rate that is still some sales. Sell trump mugs, sell anti trump mugs. Visibility is easy on twitter.

>doubt

>people toss their books in the street
>accumulate and sell per per kilo
I do this every summer and got me between $20 and $100

you will make it OP, thank you for the thread

thoughts about packaging design? some indian dude on quora told me it is very unsaturated plus low effort-taking . apparently the companies provide with the logos and designs you just have to slap it on the box in illustrator or whatever

does dividend investing count? thats how i make all my passive income

>Automated online Arbitrage with the help of a buybot
Literally been writing a python bot for the past month that scrapes data on low priced items that are currently trending on ebay/amazon, putting them up for sale on my ebay storefront with markup, and once alerted of a sale having the bot place an order using the money from the sale with the customers shipping info onto chink sites like aliexpress where the seller sends the item directly to the customer.
I'm still rather new to python though so it's talking a while to develop. anyone done something similar to this before??

currently experimenting

requests package to get te data from url
beautifulsoup to get the right data from out of the html
and mongodb package and database to store everything, because I like it

both requests and beautifulsoup have some good alternatives I will try out as wel

B, is this supposed to be a dilemma?

Nah i guess it's just a moral question

also, currently it is on hold, because I got some IP bans because of scraping...

Will continue when I finished some kind of proxytesting and rotating

and the obvious answer to the question is B

I would agree with you but there could still be people arguing for point A or C

How can one sell/monetize pop science and culture articles? (Basically, stuff you'd find on websites such as Wired or Cracked.) I want to become a freelance writer/journalist but don't know where to start. Should I just write for a portfolio at first?

> would you rob B of his flute?

how do I start a business if I have no money or skills?

Dont choose this road.
Been there. Articles, even if you are a professional, sell extremely low. And a well written article you put your soul into can get a 100 views.
Id suggest starting off with your own blog right away, cos this way youll still be doing pretty much free labor, but youll have a chance to become popular yourself and monetise that

based mongodb user.
most people prefer requests but i found urllib2 provided me with better cookie management and browser simulation

what are some alternatives to bs4?

Hey OP you should add Kindle/paperback Amazon book self-publishing to the list.

You can create a book with a small investment and sell it on Amazon. They will even print and ship it on demand for you, so there's no up front cost for inventory.

The main cost is writing the book (do this yourself), editing (if your writing sucks), cover art (very important), and formatting for paperback if you want to print it paperback (do this only if your Kindle version is selling decently).

Also if you find a really uncompetitive niche, you can even run ads on Amazon and make a profit because the CPC will be low.

I run ads to two books I sell as both Kindle and paperback and the profit after ad cost is about $400 a month before taxes.

Currently working on getting my next book published.

I want to try out Scrapy as alternative
It has something called spiders and seems useful for large scale scraping. It has some nice built in features like throttling and multiple processes.

I have not tried the cookies with Requests yet. Mostly headers because of user-agent

>hey let’s give a random 3rd worlder who can barely speak English access to a $100k advertising budget

I would love to have you promote my products
But what did you mean exactly by promoting my shirt in Texas, USA, how do you plan to market the shirt ? Do you have a Ig account with followers related to fashion?

Obviously we need to discuss outside of biz

actually I know an /fa/ tripfag with significant following on a few diff IG accounts. his main is hentaichad, hes all rick owens and stuff

literally all I can contribute to any fashion discussion

here my email. [email protected]

no problem user hope you can always contribute!

what skills do you have bro that can give us more insight.

this may sound like a joke but draw some memes bro always in high demand and if somebody like cancer BuzzFeed picks it up you can make some buxs. Id love to see some of your work!

wow thats cool bro. are any other manufacturers using this technique?

as cliche, as it sounds being persistent is key bro. call up that roastie 388494994 times until you talk to the boss. if they block your number go up to their offices, politely obviously and go talk to them about the benefits and what not. That what gary vee says at least lmao

If you live in a wealthy area, you can make money reselling clothing online you get cheap from goodwill/other thrift stores

Do you have any specific knowledge?
Interesting backstory?
what kind of city do you live in?

Here's what I'm gonna do:
Buy a lot of 100 ______ from china
Set up an ebay store
See how they sell

then do it with something else.

thanks for participating user

>indian dude on quora
come on user you know better

your right it does count as passive, but you would need significant capital to make a living off dividends, thats what I think at least

you have to have a good skillset , come on. if not just continue wagecucking

hows mongodb better than sql. I wnat to get into databases but it just seem so overwhelming lol i just get django to handle my databses

yeah your right. ill add that next thread! id love to hear about your books user! any tips and/or experiences for people who want to start?

Been doing really well with a cbd oil affiliate site. Free to join and they just added vapes and gummies. www.calmcbd.myctfocbd.com/overview

Yup, been thinking about launching my own website too. The main question is: how to bring traffic to it? I feel that even quality content alone is not enough. What marketing channels should an online magazine use?

It is not about being better, it's about being suitable. Mongo is very flexible so I can make whatever new field I like.

You can use whatever database you like or want to practice with, because on single person project you do not have to worry about performance or scalability that fast

kindlepreneur.com/book-marketing-101/

This is pretty much the most complete guide on online book publishing that I've seen.

Has anyone ever done erotica books for kindle? Apparently it can be a pretty good source of side income if you're a good writer since most stories are like 5000 words max.

OP why not link the prior thread to the current thread's first post

i study IT and economics. i know webdesign, seo. learning java right know. i´m open to do anything, doesn´t have to be tech related, i like learning new things and i really just want to have a regular income.
Also i´´m intersted in filmmaking, i know how to edit videos and photos, but there´s no creative industry where i live, just chemical companies and car manufacturers. i was thinking of doing photography, but i don´t know how to find customers.

what're the genre of the two books?

passive income is such a fucking meme i wish everyone who uses it unironically develops glioblastomas

Thanks for the tip man !

what kind of browser simulation do you do in urllib2 that you can't in requests?

any books recommendation?

How can I convince people to give me their decrepit electronics for scrap? Do people care enough about recycling?

>Slumlording
How can I do this?

can someone bogpill me on being a slumlording in some 3rd world shit hole?

Hello, a while back I tried starting a /small biz general/. Didn't get much traction and I have been busy as of late, but I'm glad to see this general up and running.

I own a property management company, have a contract with a group of RE investors as an asset manager (this is somewhat complicated, as I take management fees, lead bonuses, and two different hourly rates for different categories of tasks), and am currently rehabbing my first house, a foreclosure that in 2-3 years will become my first rental (hopefully sooner).

I am 26 and live in MO. AMA I guess. Property management isn't hard to get into if you are capable. I do almost all labor, showings, and everything in between. Tools and skill aren't even necessary, as you can hire a handy man/contractor/plumber/whatever on the homeowners dime. Or you can man up and do that shit yourself and charge $30/hr. I generally enjoy the work.

I'll read through previous bread. I'm interested in the ATMs.

where are people just throwing books on the street? what kind of books? why are you following them and why aren't the streets getting cleaned?
please explain this.

Like E/N blogging? Pfft, thats so 2007. E/N jewtube/twitch it's where it's at now. The competition there is insane, but even that is eons better than a domain parked in the middle of the woods.

My dad owns a construction company that I work for. I work in the office and don't really know too much about the actual construction side. We have about 5.5m in sales this year, with about 5% profit margin. I have the option to take over one day and probably buy out my dad's lazy partner who technically owns half of the company.

I'm not really interested in construction at all, and I don't feel like learning the construction side. I don't want to have to be at job sites early in the morning, and I don't feel like taking on the stress of things like making payroll when cash flow is low.

What do I do anons?

Attached: los-angeles-commercial-general-contractor.jpg (2122x1415, 1.02M)

College students at the end of semesters? In countries with free education?

Find a protege who's passionate about it, sell him half the company, pay off your fathers partner with that, and now be the useless mooch.

>I don't want to work hard whatsoever, what do?
Sell the company to the lazy partner once you get your dads shares. Doesn't sound like you'd be happy otherwise

What do you mean by memes? Any tips?
>Id love to see some of your work
Here's a WIP. Need to do some shading and make the hand smaller

Attached: Screen Shot 2018-10-11 at 8.32.49 PM.png (1032x1436, 1.77M)

My dad will still own half the company for the rest of his life, so I would have to somehow buy out the partner, and the partner won't be interested in taking full responsibility of the company anyway.

Maybe I am afraid of hard work, but construction almost seems like a lifestyle that I guess I'm not interested in, and I've seen the stress that it can put on my dad while growing up.

Attached: Corporates.jpg (275x183, 8K)

That's pretty interesting.. What do you usually do on a daily basis?

Attached: daisyhogg.jpg (472x461, 52K)

suck dicks
KNEEPAD - 10usd
Bj - 1$
If you suck 2740 dicks every day, you will be millionaire by the end of the year.

I don't know where to post this so I'm just gonna ask here.

Currently a business dev. rep for a up-and-coming tech company that's just been acquired by a fucking gigantic tech company.

This job fuckin sucks, but big dudes in sales make big bucks. They also work long hours, have thin heads of hair, and have to CONSTANTLY travel.

I do not like constantly traveling and do not like working more than 45 hours a week.

My degree is in a laughable liberal art and I'm near my one year anniversary with this company.

Do I ditch and try to do something I love (writing / video ) or do I stick with this and rake in the bucks or do I go back to school or just what the fuck?

Oh wait also, I wanted to ask:

Does anyone know if higher-up sales executives make a lot of money at large tech companies ( SalesForce, Oracle, Microsoft, SAP, etc.)? I've heard they can make over half a million but this just seems bat shit.

Anyway, thanks Jow Forums.

(( realizes the thread has been dead for 2 hours ))

Well Jow Forums, I think I could ask for advice here.
My father has a small but well-known furniture business. Thing is, it is failing and I am afraid it will die at some point. My dad is an interior designer, so he has good taste in furniture and that shit, but he is a disaster when it comes to management and business running.
He's gotten into a vicious cycle of getting into debt to produce goods to pay other debts.

What could I do to help him? In the end I want to rescue this business because I could inherit a somewhat potential source of good income. One point he's got in his favor is that he already has good contacts (most of his clients are rich as fuck and his work is aimed at high-wealth people/ small offices / small health centers / small places in general).

Looking to make a clothing brand (like everyone else) but I've researched a specific niche and I'm not finding a whole lot of competition. It's not some dumb "funny phrases" on a t-shirt or graphic t-shirts thing either. Do I go private label(not entirely sure how this works. Been researching)? Resell something from a wholesaler? Also because it's not just another t shirt clothing brand I'm having trouble finding wholesalers with the kind of cloths I'm looking for. Any advice how to find the right stuff?
I don't think the advertising for this will be overly difficult and I've talked to a number of people who have told me it's a good niche that major brands don't really cover and I'd have a one stop shop so to speak so I'm confident sales can happen.

Bumping for a non crypto thread.

If I may I recommend not going the tshirt route unless your willing to spend 7-15k and not be profitable for the first or second year

It's not t shirts. I specifically wanted to steer clear of t shirts because literally everyone tries it at some point, or so it seems.

how do i become a ceo of 3 companies at once with a fake location presence and get paid millions like sergey?

I'm finishing an internship in Data Science in a SIllicon Valley Fortune 500 companie. I really hate working in an open space.

They like what I do and this will be great on my CV, but I will never be more than a cog in the machine. I want to be a boss or manager even if absolute zero social skills because I'm naturally high energy.

Should I join/create a start-up? In what field?

Attached: big-data-applications.jpg (802x420, 63K)

Sorry for the late answer, but no. I would be the first manufacturer.

Dunno if it may help you but two girls in my city have a company where they grab old clothes from bins/thrift shops, restyle them and sell them with a good markup.

It mostly looks like Desigual stuff tho.

Dude once again your op prices are fucking retarded. They are off by 2 zeros and more importantly you don’t just jump in an industry unless it’s on fire. These are all saturated markets, you have to play on the edge.

t. Entrepreneur making 3-8k net a day

I want to know what's the best way to learn marketing. Not meme marketing, please. Real marketing. As in selling real products to real people, increasing real revenue.

It’s not, like anything valuable, something you just jump in. Go work as an associate in a firm that’s doing the type of marketing you want to do. Some specialize in TV, Radio, Internet, etc. it’s a complex field. You can go to a firm too, that’s where the action is, it’s just hard to get in.

>go to allbit.com
>buy APOT - their native token
>stake it
>get passive income / dividends from their trading fees
>promote the exchange so they will have higher trading volumes
>get higher passive income

Did you identify where he fails at ? You could propose him to become his associate.

where in MO?

most likely, yes

when in doubt, check glassdoor dot com

Hello, I was wondering if I could get some feedback on this idea. I'm thinking of buying a 3D printer and selling prosthetic hands. I still have a ton if research to do, but from what I've seen so far there is a demand for it. The 3D printer isn't too expensive, there are free tools online, the kits are inexpensive for the parts I can't 3D print, and I am also really interested in this and also bionic prosthetics. Would this be good as a side gig I can eventually turn into a business? I could also make smaller things and sell them too. Just wanted to get a rake from biz. Thanks

Does anyone have experience with gaming apps? Is it a feasible project? Looks like people and kids are only going to play more in future and seems like companies in this space are ridiculously profitable

Seems like a good idea but if there is a fablab not far from you you could try it there.
Also, for plastics, someone doing injection molding will always be cheaper than you on large series, so avoid that and focus on small tailored orders.

I should make online courses. Anyone have a platform they'd recommend?

Not on your own.

You' ll need designers, preferably multiple programmers, and a 5 figure budget for marketing.

I mean you might be that guy that does it on his own, but that's as likely as winning the lottery.

teach me your ways

Fablab? I'll look into it thanks. Theres a website I found that has multiple types of prosthetic hands. The kits are around 30 bucks. I'll def take your advice and see if I can build a client base. Maybe even offer to fix them if they break down or replace parts. I'll alsonlook into making a website. There are a ton of people looking for free ones though I thought if I can make it more affordable, id get some customers. Thanks for the feedback!
