Automation and UBI

How should society respond to automation? UBI? Ludditism?

It's only a matter of time before automation sweeps away the majority of jobs (90-95%). AI, machine learning and deep learning are only tools that are progressively becoming more advanced. Eventually a lot of jobs (white collar included) will be automated away, as they are. Few fields are safe. Medicine, accounting, finance, IT will be automated away for the most part. Big companies like KPMG and JP Morgan have already invested in automating finance work away with great success. Many companies exist and are popping up that automate a lot of day to day tasks for businesses.

People usually raise a few objections.

> Automation will just create new jobs
This is untrue and is due to a misunderstanding of the current state of AI. Any job has fundamentally two components: one mental and the other physical. A basic warehouse job is more physical than mental, and an electrical engineering job is a lot more mental than physical.

The Industrial revolution and the advances made in technology like electricity, motors, engines, cheap circuits has made the physical component of work more efficient with better tools. However the tools required the mental input of the worker.

AI however substitutes the mental input of the worker. You can create implementations (computer programs) that can do that for you now.

> My jobs requires too much judgement to be automated
This is a low IQ objection that is due to an ignorance of computers and computing. In an introductory programming course in the first lesson you will learn about conditionals such as If statements and For and When statements. All jobs can be automated. It's just a matter of mapping out the thought process into a series of conditionals. Even if there are grey areas in your job it is likely that 80-95% of tasks you do are mundane and similar. So even though automation may not outright eliminate all the jobs in your field it will drastically reduce demand for the professionals in your field. Imagine what effect it will have for the entry level market of the field you're in when only skilled senior professionals are required for the few jobs there are.

> What about programmers/software developers?
Software development has drastically changed in the past decade. A lot of programming has been automated with IDEs and libraries which handle the bulk of the work. Research has begun on automating programming itself. Admiringly, once we can fully automate programming we will be close to automating research. I should also remark with reduced demand for other STEM fields more people will pour into this field. Meaning lower wages for a market that is already being impacted by outsourcing.

> You'll just have to re-skill
How are you going to reskill millions of sub 110 IQ individual in fields that require an IQ of 120+?

There are two options, and a middle ground.

UBI. This will however require some form of population control to stop the low IQ from overpopulating the society.

Ludditism. We simply ban certain technologies. We can still employ automation in other fields. But this raises the question of which era do we return to? 1950's, 1900's, 1500's?

>AI however substitutes the mental input of the worker.
>muuh AI will program by themselves

butthurt boomer detected

We're getting UBI and we're going to pay for it with your SS money and aid to Israel

depopulation

Let's be honest here, faggot, not even the automation industry is safe from automation. If you pay a retard enough money and make him excited, you can get a programmer to teach robots how to program. We literally are almost in that level.

found the yang zoomers, not gonna happen cause its not possible.

We already have the key very close. You already mentioned yourself, we will soon be able to automate research. Well, if we can perfect genetic engineering, we can create high IQ babies or perfect babies or whatever you want to call it.

Yump, Blackrock Capital booted most of their analyst positions and replaced them all with a fintech 3.0 deep learning self adjusting factor investment model

Automation sounds fucking awesome. Why are people so worried about it?
