Learn to code?

I realize that we can't expect, or desire, everyone who invests in something to understand the architecture and technology behind it.
I don't have much background in coding, in fact I work on cars.

I'm curious if anyone else feels the need to go deeper into the tech?? I still feel like it's early... I can explain the ledger and other facets of Bitcoin to people, but I feel like if I learn how to actually work with blockchain code I could get out of the body shop eventually. Or at least learn to better understand white papers and the tech behind each new shitcoin. I make great money, but I have to travel and that in itself takes a toll after a while.
Anyone else unironically learning to code...... like this 30 year old boomer??

just learn solidity. smart contracts are easy. and you can express most blockchain applications with them.

Already dunn learnt it. I'm the CTO of a mid-size company. That bitcoin book is pretty good, I recommend it to people :)

I used to teach myself C/C++ back in like 2003 when I was a teenager.

Then I stopped entirely and have worked in finance ever since graduating. Took gardening leave between jobs and taught myself Python / front end shit. Was fun. High level stuff is nowhere near as hard as you imagine, especially if you have a basic understanding of algorithms. Plus the difference between 2003 and now is that there are so many bloated memelibraries you can just copy and paste code form, hence why the industry is saturated with roasties and pajeets.

pajeet tier vocational advice. You've started at the right place.

> industry is saturated with roasties and pajeets
this. Just learn trade. You have to be contrarian to make money

if you're not scamming people writing fake cheats when you're 14, you're not gonna make it in programming, sorry

quit before brain hurty awie awie

>he didn't write real cheats
>thinks he's gonna make it

I have a shakey background in math and never took calculus.
It's a long story but essentially I always loved math and was good at it until algebra 2 in highschool the cheerleading coach was my teacher.. That cunt and I got into it every day because I would call her out for being the worst math teacher.. Which she was, I've heard this from her colleagues.
Long story short I said fuck math after that because I didn't "have" to take more. That was a mistake. I went to University of Illinois and got a degree but it was in Environmental Science.. I ended up taking some engineering classes but really struggled with the math portions.
I use Khan academy and some other online resources and believe I can learn calculus... I just wish I had done it before. fucking hindsight

Yea, I can see that... Why have such a frustrating "hobby"..
Will I just throw myself out a window eventually??

I was mining crypto in 2014 nignog... Don't worry, I'm going to make it.

>was mining crypto in 2014 only
>thinks he's gonna make it

lmao..savage
fuck man, I didn't post this on Jow Forums for a reason
we'd probably get along in real life.

:)

Same here...

At 18 I start studing IT careers, for 1.5 years and I was just learning C++ and MS-DOS, I could never saw my code in Web or an App but that was for later years.

Drop out and change to marketing. (All my IT friends bully me and told me I just gave up)
>23

Exploring the web, find out a free code curse from an online universtiy. 3 minutes later >Techer: Congratulations you just make a code in Java.
6 hours pass by and I already got my HTML with CSS and JS in the web.

Fuck, I was 1.5 years in U and I never saw my work out there and I never code after, but now in just 3 weeks of learning to code I could add to my CV Front Web Developer.

And because I know marketing, I know now that most of the online market out there if shit. Shit UX, shit Front-End, shit UI.

Next week I will FULL dive in 12 hrs/day with back-end and servers.

FEELS GOOD user, NONE OF MY IT FRIENDS NOW MARKETING, CRYPTO OR PUBLIC RELATIONS.

This read like a fever dream. Pajeet on the drink?

In marketing we learn illustrator, just learn 2 days ago how add SVG in HTML.

Men, all Webs out there use JPG or PNG and it's a pain resize it when working with mobile. Most of coders out there don't know the basic of color, design, products. They know how to code, not how to sale.

??????

Customers don't know it either though. You can't sell "high contrast is good for grandma" over "looks stylish" even to a company trying to sell to old people. Fucking tards everywhere.

i learned how to do some car repairs this year and i found it was very similar to working on computers/programming. debugging especially. you'll probably take to it if you don't mind the insane learning curve. imo learning to program has among the hardest learning curves of anything.

Computers are mechanical like cars I think you’ll be fine. Teach yourself. Just like you work on a car using a manual all computer related things have a manual. If they don’t have a manual it’s most likely opensourcr and you can read the code. Start small with some basic online courses. How did you learn to work in a car? Probably by taking one apart. Same goes for code

EXACTLY customers don't know it either.
There is the gold mine

You don't sale it to them, you create it yourself and compete with them. All those "old people" CEOs will die or retire in 10 years and pass it to another old CEO.

Nobody born with a brand in his DNA

by customer I mean "companys"

the school system fucked the interest in maths for a lot of us. It's actually way better to learn on your own and at your pace.

can you get a job with maths alone tho?

Just finished Mastering Bitcoin. Good book. If you're not familiar with Public key cryptography, hashing algorithms and peer to peer networks there are some good videos on youtube.

Looking into mastering Ethereum next to learn about smart contracts and proof of stake algorithms.

Focus on the python course first and then hit the bitcoin book. Just understand that it take's a lot of discipline to learn CS, which is what you really are attempting to do here. Don't worry about the math as you won't need calc until you won't need it until way down the line. I would also suggest watching the intro to CS course that harvard has you youtube. It will help to watch someone walk you through what's going on with looping, conditionals, etc. And when you want to quit, don't. Just walk away for a day or two and think about something else and let your mind churn on it in the background. Then you'll come back and it will be funny how obvious the solution was.

And unironically you being a car mech will be a lot more helpful when it come's to learning how to put all basic data structures together. And if you want to get crazy I suggest reading Volume 1 of "The Art of Computer Programming" Knuth. That's pretty much the core of a CS undergrad.

Fuck I'm shitfaced. Just read the Python book and then the other. Also who wants to buy a custom trading bot?

> t.CS fag

How deep can you go in bitcoin? I can program to crack brainwallets, can you go alot deeper?

>he didn't make a fake phishing myspace page and then set it as hotel lobbys homepage

This. Math education is fucking stuck in like 1600 to 1700s or something. They toss all the information at you hoping you learn it. It probably worked back then but the problem now is there is too much shit to learn in math nowadays and majority of it you most likely won't even use. If you do engineering and other sciences you probably have even more to learn on your plate. I believe knowing math is good and it is becoming increasingly important but the amount of content needs to be simplified somehow.

>gardening leave

wtf is "gardening leave"?

This is a cool thread, I've often felt the same way after getting heavily interested in all things crypto. I just graduated law school and passed the bar so I'm worried about totally pivoting to a new career/field, but I would like to spend time learning to code and learning more about the tech involved.

There was a really, really good thread about affiliate marketing the other day. That's another thing I'm interested in. I think there's a real future in cryptocurrency and online marketing/market places.

Yea, I always built all my computers since I was 16 too. I remember doing the old "hello world!" program in python back then but I never really got into it, regretfully.

When I got into the auto body stuff interior and dash removals reminded me a lot of computer builds. I can take an entire car apart besides the engine. Plan on learning that someday too. I can put cars back together too kek, which is probably more important.
Pretty much have always been a self teacher. Two giant bookshelves full of all sorts of subjects. Fuck the professors at Universities are trash anyway I had to teach myself everything from the books.. Overpaid commies.

>be good at math until until algebra 2
>algebra 2
>dudewhat.jpg

I appreciate that user... Congrats on passing the BAR.
Good luck on the coding, I'll post this style of thread periodically. No one said much at first, I knew I couldn't be the only one.

I nearly got that teacher fired.
The story is, she was your cliche cheerleading coach, ditzy as fuck, clueless etc.
She was a horrible teacher and everyone was failing, but she would always walk out of the class at least once a day and all the other kids resorted to steal the quiz and test answers out of her book when she would do it.
I actually knew I needed to learn the stuff so my stubborn ass wouldn't cheat.
Anyway, she would call me out and say I had a bad grade, to which I would reply "Well, Mrs. York, I have straight A's in every other class, so I wonder who the problem is"....fucking bitch.
This went on for a while until a parent teacher conference with the head of the math dept..
My mom knew what was going on and I proceeded to explain how all the kids were cheating and everything she did and that I was spending 3 hours a night just on math homework (before good internet resources)...
You should have seen the look on her cunt face.... totally worth it.

Im from a similar background as OP. Smart kid, untapped potential, faggot math teachers. College was a breeze although i mainly studied history, philosophy and chinese. Im a teacher now (for that vacation) and its a nice gig but i hate working with women. I started to learn python a few years ago but dropped it because i didnt see an avenue that was both lucrative and interesting, but i still dream of working at home. What exactly can i do with programming beyond being a code monkey?

I'm wondering that too... One thing I see people do are automated systems for things at their house. Like smart home stuff that is more intricate than say just having a timer control something.
I like the whole self sufficiency meme lifestyle, DIY, etc. I've seen people program their greenhouses and hydro systems with Arduino's... You can put all sorts of sensors and parameters on there so that the lighting and temperatures are always within optimal ranges..
You don't even need to know crazy algo's or anything, I could probably do all that now if I had the room to do it.
One of my biggest problems has been envisioning things I can use it for so you're not alone.

>just learn solidity. smart contracts are easy.
kek, easy to fuck up you mean
I bet 99% of the people writing smart contracts are not qualified to do so, including the people who wrote solidity

Trades are at least partially immune to women (sitting and blabbering all day doing nothing for the same salary) and outsourcing

Don't let naysayers and losers slow you down OP. There is no such thing as useless knowledge and skills

Rakesh you are drunk

how do u learn to troubleshoot/identify a problem in a car - such as a misfiring engine? go thru a checklist?

You can always learn sas programming.

same as computers in a way. break or down, it's either air, fuel, electrical, mechanical.

misfiring is usually timing, in case you're wondering.

>"learn to code"
>every crypto project takes 4x longer than necessary because muh coders don't have any fucking soft skills
BIG LOL

Attached: comfy japan.jpg (850x776, 263K)

Yea, and it depends on the engine type, size, etc. Like I said i'm not a mechanic though.

And is right...
Check the spark plugs first, that's the easiest thing because otherwise it may be the piston itself or the chamber. That or the timing belt, which is a bitch too but better than a fucked up Piston.
However, it could be something stupid like crappy fuel..
If you put premium in your car and then stop the engine starts running shitty from what I hear.

Its a north america thing. They break algebra up into 2 sections because its too much for them kek

U.S.A. thing unless high school in Canada has changed dramatically since I went or worked as an EA

Yes user. I am this 30yr old bloomer that is also veering down the same path. It’s the source. It needs to be done.

I’m a math major and currently looking for a job. It’s pretty hard. Most jobs catered toward math majors require additional skill set and education such as coding, finance, teaching licenses, etc. you could self teach yourself a lot of this tho as it is no where near as difficult as the math courses you took. All in all, I wouldn’t go into math unless you really love it. Pay is pretty decent however
