Self Employment

How did you know it was time to quit your job and work for yourself?

I’m sort of in that position now, but don’t think it’s wise to up and quit just yet.

>but don’t think it’s wise to up and quit just yet.
why and what is your plan?

i couldn´t motivate me for anything work related.
i sat in my office and i didn´t care about anything.

therefore they gave me all the stupid customers because i was so "chill and relaxed"

i started my own busines on the side, reselling stuff on ebay

Continue doing it outside of my current full time job.

Might be stupid but I want to trade in used cars. I have a dealer license and have for awhile, and a few friends and I have formed an LLC and we’re all members. We’ve got a small shop/lot space and fairly low expenses. At this point it’s more of a hobby for 2/3 of us, but if I went all in I can see this thing taking off. l

I just need a dose of reality from the outside. I have a pretty stable but unfulfilling and mediocre paying job working for the federal government, but I am about to obtain my CPA license which will help as a fallback of sorts if I can’t make decent money selling cars.

>working for other people and not directly benefiting in the profits gained from your work
you quit your job the moment you realize this if you have any self-worth.

>you quit your job the moment you realize this if you have any self-worth.

this is short

you also have no risk being employed.
you can fuck up bigtime and go home at 5
you get paid holidays etc.

in your own busines, every mistake can be your last one, especially in the beginning.
99% of all new busines won´t succeed, and it is not because all of them are stupid.
one client who doesn´t pay could be enough to bring you in danger.

therefore i advice everybody to first start it as a hobby or sidehustle and see how it goes.

>going all in yolo
is a fucking retarded meme

31-32 years old. I was skint and depressed and knew working a 9 to 5 would keep me depressed. Had no income, less than a hundred quid to my name, no real prospects, no real social circle, no life.
Launched my first business and joined the gym, made an effort to improve my health and life in general.

Now 34, have run two successful businesses, taken up photography, am one of the strongest guys in my gym, have a gorgeous girlfriend I'm visiting York with this weekend, generally happy in life and battling to find and create new opportunities for myself fairly regularly.
Fairly sure none of it would've went this way had I went for another office job.

>going all in yolo
>is a fucking retarded meme
It is exactly what I am doing.
BUT! and that is it, because I know I can sit for the next 6 months on my ass doing nothing and still get my bill paid because of some backup money from crypto.

I can do the business slowly and without constant pressure.
If crypto really rises I am save for some more time.
I am far from rich but at leat the bills are paid.

This is awesome to read, what are your businesses? Starting to learn UX/web design currently so I can open up more opportunities for myself.

>you also have no risk being employed.
Other way round. Employment is generally FAR more risky than self employment for most market and trades. Employment has all the risks of self employment plus more simply down to the fact that you have no control over the choices made around you other than those below you, and even then only for the people you immediately affect unless your very friendly with the CEO in almost all cases
>you can fuck up bigtime and go home at 5
Simply delusional unless you're working some minimum wage joke job
>you get paid holidays etc.
I don't see how this helps you over self employment
>in your own busines, every mistake can be your last one
That's never been the case in either of my two businesses, nor is the case in any job I can think of
>especially in the beginning.
99% of all new busines won´t succeed, and it is not because all of them are stupid.
one client who doesn´t pay could be enough to bring you in danger
Preposterous beyond belief

You sound completely ignorant and delusional mate
