/smg/ - Stock Market General - GUNT EDITION

I have ON semiconductor stocks. Should I sell? I've I'll lose about 500 dollars but maybe I could make it back if I put it all in something that will turn around soon. Can anyone give me advice? I really try to understand this stuff, and I've used the resources in the OP, but it's just so much to learn.

Let's say I wanted to get my feet wet in stock trading. What kind of exercise would you guys consider good practice, so to speak? Something with low risk. And what means should I use to actually do the trade? I hear there are even smartphone apps you can use to trade without even talking to anyone, essentially turning the process into a high-stakes video game.

actually calling someone to trade is a very dated concept, everything is done online now

the only way to really learn is through experience, and everyone will inevitably make mistakes in the beginning
the best thing to do is start off small (not put a ton of money into the market right away), practice good risk management, and not make emotional decisions when trading

also do not under any circumstances trade options until you have a lot more experience

I'm mostly in retirement target date funds. I have increased my GALT position a lot though. I feel like its worth taking a huge risk on and I would live if it got destroyed. It isn't money I need to live on.

go for it, then
I think it is also worth taking a risk on, just not a risk that could actually affect your quality of life if something went wrong

I guess I should read everything in the OP. I don't even know what 'good risk management' entails, aside from not putting all your eggs in one basket.

Hmm. I wonder if AMD's 7/7 release will be economical for this...

Ah heck of course it won't, and my old radeon or whatever is likely potato status by now.

I also think it is worth taking a risk on*

I want to like Macy's, theyre good financially but their CEOs ideas are just retarded
"Story" its like What?

They should add a skateboard park for foot traffic like Kohl's gyms
...and They tried to compete with Off price stores like Ross with 'Macy's Backstage'. They should have done 'Macy's Thrift' instead
