the token is incentive for node maintenance and setup. its not used for the applications built upon the dag network. that's what that medium poster doesn't understand (also, that article did not age well).
coti licenses technology which allows companies to whitelabel their own stablecoins so they can utilize their own blockchain payment networks (hosted on the coti dag network). the tokens are for supporting the architecture.
