amazon doesnt get anything big or over 40 lbs. We get fucking pizza ovens weighing 200 lbs and live animals and human organs. I know people who work both and people who go over to amazon and how brain dead and boring it is. I was always skeptical but then I thought about their long shifts, but fewer working days. You get overtime and shit loads of days off.

thats not how unions work. our union and company work together to come up with a contract, but its all bullshit. management and union shake hands and agree on something that'll fuck the laborers over because then both parties win. UPS pays the union and UPS profits from cutting costs.

Do not go to Amazon. Most of their employees flake out because of how fucking hard they work them. And they make pretend that they're giving their employees more benefits when they're basically rotating money around.

If he's locked into a union they won't even *talk* to him about wages. He'd have to go through his rep and the rep would have to renegotiate a new contract.

They have never been worked hard before. I am hard working naturally and very proactive.
People complain about amazon firing employees for using the restroom. Well guess what? even UPS does that in our union. If you are gone a long time you get fired.If you piss before you clock out and get caught on the clock pissing? FIRED. Its the same shit even with a unions "protection"

I want the hours. UPS cuts the shit out of your hours. I worked hard as hell today cause they ram the shit down our throats and I only worked 3.5 hours despite the work load being very hard.
And I dont get paid extra to deal with shitty new workers. Management wants the workers to kick new hires into shape, but I dont get paid extra. If they fucking suck at their job I let them and I stopped caring that its fucking me over cause I am just going to find something else.

Right now everyone is immune to skipping work or showing up late or you could probably even punch someone in the face and be ok. They are that desperate for people to stay and deal with the mess that will happen in the next 2 months.

thanks but it seems like an elusive job. Like they want to hire 1 person to depend on to do it all. I have tried before. And I have tried many times to get hired elsewhere and can never answer in a convincing way why it is that I want to leave a great company such as UPS.

just another think about amazon. They have locations everywhere. UPS tries its damnedest to keep all their work in 1 location and it obviously isn't humane.

we get all these new hires who are in college and think the job is a joke they dont give a fuck. It isnt their future so why even bother working hard?

Oh and amazon lets you move between states and cities if youre there for say half a year.
UPS dont let you move for your entire lifetime except very specific reasons like if your wife is moving and is going to make more money than you. Good luck if youre a driver making well over 30 an hour.

Alright so listen, I work hard as fuck. At my workplaces, I'm always "that" employee, and I relate to you a lot. I got a job with this in mind, at a local resturaunt, where I became a manager very quickly and they started working me even harder. 10 hour shifts constantly and it was hard work. busy the whole time. It was fun, and a bit of a power trip, but I flaked out. People think they can handle it but you can't. It fucking takes a toll on you. Amazon does it on purpose because employees who have been around for a while start asking for higher pay, so they try and just get what they can out of their workers before they fizzle. Maybe it will work out for you, but I really do not recommend it.

I dont care about money I just want to live above the poverty level. UPS wont give me hours. They like to shit on the little guys who make shit wages. Give them 25 hours a week max and let drivers work 60 hour weeks. The fucking new contract allows them to work drivers 70 hours now. That isnt safe. Oh and we going to be working sunday. Cant wait til they ask me to come in 7 days a week. And yes I will get like 70 hours but thats just november and december.

Ugh that sucks. I'm in sort of a similar situation of going "I work the hours, could work even more, work hard as fuck, but I'm just not getting paid enough."
I'm really thinking that I'm gonna have to just buckle down and go to school, as much as I don't want to, if I want to get paid enough to be above the poverty level. I unironically think companies are pushing a threshold of "you're gonna be poor as fuck unless you get an applicable education."

I just want to live cheap. $2k a month will do. I seriously am making like $900 a month. now I did work 2 shifts at UPS last year except it was so inconsistent that the extra money wasnt dependable. I tried looking for jobs that fit into my schedule and its impossible though I have an interview tomorrow. Even if I got the a second stable job why work that hard when you dont get overtime for the hours you put in, cant take vacation at the same time and you hate your primary job so much.

I have an associates in liberal arts and could go back to college, but it would be in some bullshit degree like psychology or sociology. My job doesnt let you move either and commuting to any universities is hard as fuck where I am. Its funny too cause with how little I make I would have full tuition from grants.

I was going to try trade school except UPS COMES FIRST and you arent allowed to negotiate hours. And like I said if you are a good worker they dont let you change shifts or positions. They keep you as their little bitch and laugh at you for being a fucking pawn.

I'm making the same amount and it fucking sucks. Like I'm scraping by and I have to cut out things like the one time I go out to eat a month if I want something like new work boots because mine are falling apart.
Trade school could be cool and I've thought about that. I think that hands on learning would work pretty well for me. I'm considering doing something like coding and though I have the mind for it I think it would bore me to high heaven. I feel like I'm such a rut with it. I sort of enjoy my job but my hard work isnt being compensated and it's becoming clear to me that I'm a pawn. They promised me a promotion then hired some one else for the job without even telling me.
I just want to work some where that I feel like I'm really contributing, and that it matters, and that I can look around and see what I'm helping build.

Earlier this year when I quit doing 2 shifts(the second shift sometimes didnt happen for entire weeks at a time) at UPS I was dead set on coding. Then I started getting real frustrated with the way management is granting everyone immunity and not training new hires and I am only now looking at a full time job because its gotten so stressful I cant really do any work on my own.

I would agree. Sorters have no repercussions. People send down broken shit all the time. And if you do well they give you more trucks to load.

I can try. I get so flustered and angry when I have to talk about it I cant always be rational when they ask. I expect them to understand what I do and respect that Ive been there as long as I have.

I start thinking about drivers a few years from retirement who never got a route and workers who went berserk and how much physical pain ive been in. How badly they treat you for calling out sick.

Oh and trying to work for another delivery company? like small time ones, auto parts etc. They dont even give you a chance they see you as a competitor and a traitor at the same time.

Imagine that I actually had time to take that picture and imagine all the times I'm actually trying to fix it. It goes on for hours. That wasnt even the worst of last year. That was maybe prime week, but xmas week was 2x worse.

oh and imagine people who walk out on teh job leaving people who are invested in the damn company to pick up the slack. Each fucking package car gets 600 packages minimum. I kid you not. That is a fuck load. That is why I will never drive. I will not bend the fuck over for a paycheck while people fuck my wife while i'm out til midnight.

welp I applied to amazon and am going on saturday. Its actually amazing. You get $2 extra for picking the shit shift and shit loads of over time. thurs-sat from 6 pm to 6:30 AM. Then you have a vacation every fucking week. I dont even need a residence I can live out of my car like that.
and from what I hear its performance based more so than seniority and I am a fucking boss at outstanding performance so fuck UPS's abuse and their rewards for shit workers. Even if i get laid off or fired for no reason I will just collect unemployment and have a 100% free schedule for any new job.
