Why do people cheat in relationships?

Reasons differ depending on wherher you’re talking about a purely sexual affair or one where emotions are involved.

Because the sex is fucking amazing when you find someone you connect with as friends and then, the build-up and dance of emotional bonding over time, to the point that you know from experience (from current or previous partner) that if you fucked that person they wouldn't 1. ruin your personal life or 2. hurt you on purpose. Because they feel comfortable with that person as much as or moreso than their partner.

Or they're just drunks who crave validation through one-night-stands. Those are stupid.

It's specific to the individual. In my case, I'm not currently cheating, but if I did it would be because I'm unhappy in my current relationship but can't afford to end it because we live together. Another potential reason is that some people are only interested in having lots of sex, but most normies require a relationship before they'll have sex.

You forgot to add the part about not giving a fuck about honesty, not having the integrity to talk to one's current partner to dissolve the existing relationship (or at least inform them about a change in it), and generally not giving a fuck about the current partner's feelings.

There is zero reason to cheat, unless you don't really care about your partner beyond whatever use you feel you can get out of them.

you'll notice that women cheat like monkeys swinging on vines. they don't let go of the first one unless they're sure it's safe.

most guys who cheat do it out of pure emotion and physical attraction. that doesn't mean they don't love their partner anymore, they just 'slipped'. take that anyway you want.

All cheaters are degenerates who should be shunned by a civilized society, no matter the gender. Arguing about "why" they did what they did is pointless and doesn't make any difference. It's still a betrayal of trust and shows low self control.

From my own experience, it was a lack of physical contact. My ex-girlfriend was away more and more often because she was busy with classes and work. I loved her to death, but I needed physical contact.
