Renewables won't save us (second law of thermodynamics), it takes more energy to make a solar panel (3 tonnes of coal) than you ever get out of it in it's whole lifetime (15-30 years), same with wind turbines, exceptions with hydroplant turbines, but we couldn't make those things with renewables anyway, would take 4 generations of wood planting and harvesting IIRC to make one turbine. We currently burn through energy every year that took 5 million years to form in the ground.
