I'm in a band with a couple other people and we get together every weekend to practice.
Usually, during the week I'll write some new songs to show the guys in case they wanted to make what I wrote into a song. The two that are in the band are usually pretty supportive and they have positive criticism for me.
We also have an old friend of mine who is more into hip hop than anything. He comes to hang out with us when we do practice. Sometimes he'll do some vocals for us if he's up to it.
For the past few months that my friend has shown up to our practice, he bags on pretty much everything we do. He'll tell me that my lyrics suck and that it's 2018 and to stop trying to play blues and reggae, two genres I enjoy writing music for. Whenever I've written new music for the bass, he starts mocking it. The band and I are currently trying to gain a working knowledge of music theory, and he'll bag on us and interrupt us, as he doesn't seem to understand the importance of it. He's never actually made music of his own, he just samples and chops old R&B songs until they sound the way he wants them.
This is just stuff he does related to music. Most of the time he's there, he attacks me and my appearance as well as the other two band members. Usually when he shows up, hes high on coke and pretty much becomes a person I don't want to be around.
I want to tell him to fuck off and not hang out with us during practice, but I don't know. I don't want to lose him as a friend, but at this point, I can never get anything done with him around.
What advice can you guys give me?

Sounds like the coke is dun-hijacking his probably already egotistical nature, the most honest course of action would be to tell him about his behaviour on it. If he keeps showing up high, stop inviting him.
