I am a nurse, need advice?
You must be a new nurse.
bout 8 years in now. Just really bored.
How often do doctors fuck things up? Like things that could seriously injure/harm/kill people?
Any idea why my knee pit is so fucking itchy and scaly? Tried switching soaps and detergent.
What are your qualifications, really?
I've lost a lot of weight recently, and I've been getting lightheaded when I stand up too quickly. Is this anything I need to worry about
Yeah gotta be, because I'm off the clock. You do nursing long enough, you learn to not even tell your neighbors what you do.
What area you do?
Somewhere daily.
My pinky and ring fingers of my left hand have been tingly (on and off) for the past week or so. Any idea what that could possibly mean? I've been writing by hand a bit more lately but I don't hold pens/pencils with those fingers.
Given that this is actually the "whine about relationships board" and asking for medical advice on Jow Forums is a bad idea, can you answer a question about primarily female degree programs?
What's the general dating atmosphere in them? Like considering how thirsty comsci dudes are compared to your average guy, are nursing students about the same, relative to your average girl?
>How often do doctors fuck things up?
From my experience ~15-20% of the time
>Any idea why my knee pit is so fucking itchy and scaly?
psoriasis? it is red? bumpy? bleeding? --if so, find dermatologist.
>What are your qualifications, really?
5years LTAC mixed with LTC and hospice, and 3 years behaviors (works with crazy people)
>I've lost a lot of weight recently, and I've been getting lightheaded when I stand up too quickly.
lightheaded while standing is usually postural hypotenion (low blood pressure) are your diet habbits the same or have you changed them? drug use-pharmaceutical or street drugs? I can't diagnose you but may be able to give you an idea
>You do nursing long enough, you learn to not even tell your neighbors what you do.
All my neighbors see me in scrubs every day-they know. I'll gladly assist anyone who'se injured, I'm not like most nurse's who state "i'm off the clock" and drive by an accident scene before first responders show up, believe it or not i enjoy helping others when i can..I'm currently in behavioral nursing, but hope to finish my SANE req's to get into forensic nursing.
try stretching your wrists before writing, your nerve endings don't start at the pinky finger and if you've picked up writing alot after not for a long time, you could easily pinch a nerve in your wrist causing odd sensations into your fingers.
Is it normal to have yellow bumps on my penis shaft?
Hmm alright. Does stretching after writing help as well?
female nurse's come in all types, i've worked with die-hard sluts, and then i've worked with women in loving families, and i've worked with loners who just go home and play with they're cat after work. but each and every one of us has a very dark sense of humor, even if we don't show it. Male nurse's are for the most part...odd. not gunna lie. but i don't feel like they're sitting behind me drooling either.
no...not at all, especially if they're filled with fluid...see a doctor either way
stretch them prior to writing. when i first started out all of our documentation was done by writing, and stretching afterwards, i found at least did not help as much as stretching them out before i started working, but pill popping does a number on your wrists as ridiculous as it sounds. If you really want to see if that works try stretching before and after, and give your hand breaks. if the pain continues i'd suggest seeking out a doctor incase you have an unseen bone spur or something forming.
My penis is huge. Is that normal?
Alright thanks for the advice. It's not really pain or anything. More like if you sit on your hand for a while and it loses feeling. It's like that but only in those two fingers. So it might just be because of the writing and my hand muscles not being used to it like you suggest.
Why are so many nurses sluts? I would really like to know
me too honestly.. maybe it's an entitled persona issue? i think it makes nurse's look bad considering the amount of disease they accrue onto themselves..but on the bright side, they have they're own money which a suppose makes them better than being a slut for money
If my medication causes my heart to beat very fast and I black out should I fall for the ER meme.
if your medication causes blackouts, i would talk to the doctor that prescribed it to you, if it's a benzo...try weaning the dose but still let your doc know. no need to visit the ER, just call your doc..like monday.
I've never not responded to an accident. I've actually had 2 incidences where I was the first civilian responder and once I got to practice the Heimlich in a stakehouse. I'm now a nurse consultant and have moved since I used to work in scrubs so I have the luxury of not having people knock on my door at all hours asking me to take a look at this "rash"? But I certainly would never turn anyone away and certainly would never advertise on here that I am a nurse, please allow me to help you.
Trust me, you've only been doing this a few years. Check back with me in a couple decades and I wouldn't be surprised to find that you might not be as eager.
>Male nurse's are for the most part...odd. not gunna lie. but i don't feel like they're sitting behind me drooling either.
Well I'm not actually in nursing, I was just asking because the biomedical engineering program at my school is like 80%.
people came knocking on your door? at all hours of the night? seriously? lol yeah i suppose that'd get tiring...and i didn't say "like every other nurse" i said "most" and even that's overestimating, but i've worked with a quite few that will gladly stroll right past. No need to take such offense to my "eagerness". if you're salty...just...move along lol and to the nurse's that get burnt out, or have shitty attitudes about their work, i tell them prior-auth nursing working for the insurance companies is the position they're seeking.
Varies. When it started, it was red with little bumps. Went away for a week. Camp back, not its like super dry skin, bleeds when I scratch.
Also, it it normal to feel really good scratching? Normally scratching feels good but for whatever reason scratching this area feels like...really good.
I am being 100% honest, at work I scratched so vigorously, i had my eyes closed and felt...like high but not quite. Ive smoked before and this felt similar. Like my brain felt clear and the back of my neck felt like something was moving inside.
No thanks I'm fine.
I flirted too hard with a nurse at the hospital where I receive regular treatment and now there is a tonne of gossip going around the ward and shit and she's worried it'll get her in trouble because it's not against policy but it's frowned upon to be personally close with patients.
Why do nurses/hospital staff gossip so much?
>nurses and staff primarily composed of females
>gossip
Yeah im surprised too
Just a shot in the dark here but I had heel pain this time last year that I got put in a boot for since apparently I had a heel fracture forming.
Turns out, I had something tiny lodged in my foot instead. Anyway, fast forward a few months and it's no longer pain, but it's uncomfortable to step on when walking. I get it checked out, and get put on physical therapy for 2 months.
Eventually I "graduate" from that and keep up with my exercises. But it's been several months since and this uncomfortableness hasn't really improved. This leg is definitely weaker than the other leg, so I've been slowly evening that out strength-wise but I'm worried that I'll never overcome this.
Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated.
When you work day shift, 11pm is all hours of the night. Happened twice, neighbor wanted me to look at his mother's skin tear. I think he liked me. It was annoying. Nursing has changed a lot since I started. More psych in LTC than ever before yet the staff don't get the proper training for it. I worked in psych myself a couple years, as a nurse not a patient. Although I always say there's a fine line between which side of the nurses station you sit on in that field. You have to be a little touched to do it. I met my favorite co-workers in that field. Prior auth and care management is a headache from what I've seen. I think legal nurse is a great place to be but I ended up as a pharmacy consultant nurse. A lot of audits, in-service and med pass observes. No hands on any more. I kind of miss that part but I enjoy teaching staff now. The travel and other benefits are nice too. I love the field because there really are a lot more options than most realize.
How many nurses become nurses hoping to find doctors to marry?
Why are all nurses slutty?
Why do my legs hurt after a night of drinking?
Ulnar nerve compression possibly caused by weight gain or pressure on the posterior aspect of your forearm (when resting it against a surface or writing for long periods of time).
>When it started, it was red with little bumps
you need a dermatologist.
>I had heel pain this time last year that I got put in a boot
i'm sorry to say i have no idea, if the imaging and doctors and PT's don't know, i'm afraid i'm of no use.
>11pm is all hours of the night
i agree 100% with everything you just said.
i tell all my co-workers i will end up on this unit in my older age just for kicks.
>How many nurses become nurses hoping to find doctors to marry
1 out of 100. it's not common
