2. I'd be more worried about how they got your email. Are you registering with your actual email to shady sites? If not, you might have had your info taken from one of many data breeches. Check haveibeenpwned.com and consider changing your passwords

As others have mentioned this is a scam which takes advantage of leaked account details from old websites, just last month I received 2 emails from 2 websites warning me they got hacked and some old shit accounts got leaked.

A good website stores your password as some random looking shit like hdh839u6vdg25343hd86dgb47886 and not your actual password text, so even if hackers get the database they won't know your real password. At some point you signed up at a shitty site that just stored your password as text. Then that site got hacked. If you're like the majority of people, you used the password on other sites as well.

This brainlet means that sites store password hashes, not actual text of your password. That's why they can't just tell you your password if you forget and you can only reset it. They don't know your password either. Shit sites store actual password.
