One reason why Oregon will never flip, nor be a swing state. It's Multnomah, which is the county that Portland is in. Washington and Clackamas are the suburbs which surround it, while Lane contains Eugene, which has the University of Oregon. Everything else is pretty moderate and center-right, but nowhere near enough to make the state competitive in an at-large election.
Also noticed that the county which Salem is in did go red (barely) in 2016, along with some of the northwestern rural counties which have been blue since the 1980's. Pretty cool to see some rural communities uncucking, but Portland is pretty much Oregon's Chicago.

I mean, the GOP in California should have done this in the 2000's before the Dems got their supermajorities.
