Should soldiers be given lightweight close-combat weapons traditional to their region/culture?
Instead of plain battle knives: >Battle axes for the Nordics >Samurai swords for the Japs >Jian swords for the Chinese >Forks for the Americans >Macuahuitl for everyone in Central America >Longswords for most Central Europeans >Scimitars for the Middle East >Wooden sticks for the Africans
Maybe it could be source of patriotism and CQC skill?
>A thread died for this >implying that any thread on page 10-11 is worth having why didn't you bump it then, you fucking retard
David Powell
>>Battle axes for the Nordics Finfag here, knives as close-combat weapons is about as traditional as it gets
Jackson Nguyen
>Maybe it could be source of patriotism and CQC skill?
and maybe i could not drag around another useless peace of shit ?
you people make service look like some sort of achievement
Ayden Nelson
>wasted dubs maybe the thread that died had reached the bump limit & had a civilized, on-topic discussion ongoing when it died?
...Who am I kidding, this is Jow Forums, it was probably some autist's rant about an obscure topic that lasted a couple posts before getting derailed by a Jow Forumsack going on a rant of their own about how the OP is [political stance/an ethnic or sexual minority/all three] & everyone who doesn't agree 100% with them is a Jow Forumsack themselves...
Robert Collins
That's dumb also why not carry a weapon that's practical like a sword why does it have to be special to there culture are you a sjw guy why not use something practical dude
Sjw are just another type of racism I would use a European sword over the katana I am asain cos I like connan the barberian
Juan Miller
You sure you won't like a traditional Mongolian Khan-era sabre?
Adam Ward
>longsword >light
Luke Moore
>Not tomahawks I don't think the actual Indians would like that
how about a rapier or a smallsword?
Brody Long
Oh fucking great, another thing weighing down the kit of the infantryman and the military never taking the time to train people on how to actually use the goddamn things
Ayden Butler
No
Leo Fisher
>rapier >'light'
Austin Smith
No. Puukko is fine.
Dylan Nguyen
I could see that, spanish legionaires charging with a rappier and a dagger into battle
>Should soldiers be given lightweight close-combat weapons traditional to their region/culture? That's fucking stupid, use your standard entrenching tool. Also, that's what bayonets are for.
Jason Richardson
Because nobody uses a knife for melee either. We invented this thing called a gun that’s a lot better.
So badically I would use what we use already, but with a wooden grip and some cheesey saying carved into it like "John Wayne's Revenge?"
I could dig it.
Jack Baker
That's mean :(
Brayden Gutierrez
>Post photo from tumbler with the file name still in it Come on you are asking to get bullied.
Sebastian King
The Chinese standard issue war sword is the Dao. There are two words for "sword" in Chinese. A "jian" is a sword with two sharp edges. Requires too much skill to use to be an effective standard weapon.
The samurai primarily uses a lance and a bow on the battlefield.
Even if I came here directly from /lgbt/ I couldn't have seen anything that gay in a while
William Hughes
>longsword >long
Liam Moore
He didn't say native. You'd get a sick ass bowie though.
Dylan Cook
EN GAAARDE
Dylan Perez
I guess it takes a faggot to derive something homosexual from the picture in OP
Caleb Green
Stop trying to advertise battlefield five faggot.
Dylan Perez
You can draw a knife much faster.
Brandon Allen
>tomahawks You mean muskets?
Luis Foster
Nigga nobody charged into battle with a dagger and a rapier. It's always farming equipment, or for proff armies a spear, and if they're rich side weapons such as swords.
yeah sure, they can use throwing knives to kill people 1km away.
Jordan Reed
I'd be more worried about the length bumping in to things.
Cooper Morgan
Hardly that, old chap!. Depending on ones class, one either uses a cricket bat or a half-brick. For the ladies, a field hockey stick is more appropriate.
Jordan Cruz
Tomahawks weren't invented by Indians, they were traded to them and then saw widespread use among both settlers and natives. They came from European traders.
Jeremiah Davis
Nah, American melee weapon is their personal CCW piece.
Camden Fisher
The great thing about the Philippine army in this regard is that they're using traditional Filipino bladed weapons to this day. Largely because most of them were designed by Pre-colonial Flips to double as survival knives and machetes as well as fighting weapons.
