It's not terrible. I do like that it is easy to keep your thumbs from touching it while shooting. And it can give you some meat when racking the slide, but at the same time I'd rather not touch the safety unless I'm deliberately actuating it. Mostly user preference.

this seems like terrible advice. at least i would never do it on my 92. "sweeping downward" to disengage is a much more difficult manipulation than simply pushing forward. he at least engaged like a normal person though.

I guess it depends on the length an shape of your thumb.
Personally I found it easiest to just use the interphalangeal joint on my thumb to push up/forward.
