I was thinking of getting a FEG AK47 Sporter and wondered if I remove that huge wood stock and replace it with a regular old AK butt stock do I to do the whole 922r conversion on the rifle?

I wouldn't worry about it at all. 922 only applies to manufacturers and importers. The feds have no way to prove the origin of your furniture.

Just get a new stock of your liking. Nobody gives a fuck about 922R. I have never been, nor have I ever heard of anyone being asked to hand over a weapon for inspection.
Even if asked, just tell them fuck off, get a warrant. It's a 4th amendment issue at that point and a warrantless search.

In fact, I'm certain that nobody (other than smugglers) has ever been charged with a 922r violation.

If you are really concerned about 922R, you only need 5 parts since I don't believe those FEG's had a threaded muzzle. If it had a threaded muzzle and attachment you would need 6. You could put whatever surplus furniture you wanted on there (I'd probably get a Hungarian stock and one of those ugly Hungarian grips just to restore it to it's pre-ban glory), then drop a US made trigger group in there (3 922R parts) and buy a shitty US made magazine (also 3 922R parts) just to keep laying around just in case even if you never use it. There's your 6 922R parts. You can do all of this yourself using a pin punch and a screwdriver, but I would also thread the barrel and put an original Hungarian slant brake on there, too. You're looking at about $100 worth of parts and maybe $20 for a gunsmith to thread the muzzle to do the whole job. Those FEG's are really nice rifles, BTW.

Yeah I could but! Just want to replace the butt stock if I get it ut now I have to buy 5-6 parts and teh furniture at ;east teh good stuff cost hundreds! So if you go nice it cost like $500 minimum to convert it and for what? Loosing the great trigger control for an American made one, thats has to be $100 bucks right there!
