Survival knife

Friend is looking for a general all purpose knife-
trying to decide between a k-bar and an FAL bayonet. He already has a hatchet - so i think hes just looking for something for trail use.
Any of you autists have input?

Very interesting scattergat, any info?

its a remington model 14-
so... not a scattergat

I blasted a cottontail rabbit yesterday just for fun and I feel like total and utter shit today.

Well... maybe don't kill things just for the fun of it. Or consider using the things you kill.

Cetme bayonets are decent imo. You can get them pretty cheap

Yea I don’t know what the fuck was wrong with me. I’ll never do it again. I wouldn’t flinch if I wasted a peat but why the fuck did I slaughter that benign animal without even using its meat

>k-bar and an FAL bayonet.
what a terrible set of choices.
>rat tail tang
>pipe for a handle
I mean really, why? One cant hold up to long term beatings and the other has a fucking metal cylinder for a handle. I can forgive the KaBar because alot of people fell for the military meme of it being a survival knife.(the ontario pilots knife was actually the most liked among soldiers by the way). The kabar is a wierd cross between a hunting/fighting knife.

Tell him to buy a esee/ontario rat 3 or 5.
Or just go look up a list of bushcraft knives.

The knife i carry in the woods. I pair it with an axe and/or saw depending on what im doing. Its a Kit knife i put together so forgive the finish. 1095 steel, scandi grind, and full tang.

absolutely this

personally, i'd go with the ESEE 6, the 5 is kind of an oddball out of the group because it has an unusually thicker blade

Just get a mora, save a few bucks to get something genuinely mean to be an all purpose knife.
>B-but, muh batoning
Buy an axe if you want to split wood

>rat tail tang
Rat tail tang is used on maquette knives and swords. Ka-Bar is a push tang.
>Tell him to buy a esee/ontario rat 3 or 5.
>folding survival knife
Opinion discarded.
>general all purpose knife
Ahti Juhla, Mora Classic - if you like carbon steel.
Marttiini, A&R Zlatoust - for stainless.

My knife for the hard work.
>1.2235 carbonsteel
>full tang
>confex grind
>German craftsmanship

Becker BK2

Not to rag on previous posts' choices, but imo a true "all purpose" knife would have the bottom half of the blade serrated. Then you get two types of blades.

just get a sissipuukko

>a true "all purpose" knife would have the bottom half of the blade serrated.
>Then you get your knife stuck when you stab something too deep.

>rat tail tang is bad
Explain swords please
Kabars aren't great utility knives, but it isn't because of the tang.

Fallkniven s1 or f1

Then you get a shit knife
Serated sucks for 95% of all things you would want to do with a knife

or just a regular puukko.

I'll also suggest a Mora, they are good cheap knives that take a beating pretty well.

You can't go wrong with a Becker bk2 or bk7.

Interesting rhyme scheme

cute little earring.

Rabbits are pests. Don't feel bad, it's a necessary thing to do where I live otherwise they eat up our entire garden

>>Tell him to buy a esee/ontario rat 3 or 5.
>>folding survival knife

You do know that those are fixed blades right?
opinion discarded.

Oh. When russians talk about ontario rats, they usualy speak of the folding ones. I spend most of time on russian boards

Kbar

Earring?
You mean the fake damascus bead right?

The folding one*
Because the folding one is the Rat 1

>ESEE 3/Ontario RAT 3
>folding

You're an idiot.

+1 for esee knives or an af survival knife

A $12 Mora Companion will serve him perfectly well.

But this kisa has a usual hunting knife, not a puukko. Puukkos should have no handguards.

Kek. Thought the same thing.
