The battle rifle really has no place in an arensal other than just because. But if you do, either SCAR or a Fulton Arms M14(There are reasons why a Springfield M1A is inferior I wont get into).
But f you are going to shoot .308 and above, you might as well be shooting it out of something that's actually going to be accurate out at the distances where those rounds are going. For 3k you could grab a ruger precision rifle, a quality scope and accessories and a pile of ammunition to get good with at the range. Then if you get really into it, you can really start burning cash with custom rifles, scopes, shooting mounts, and reloading.

Because any poorfag can assemble a parts AR. Owning a SCAR tells people that you actually contribute something meaningful to society.
