First one is a german female who ran across the border in Berlin, and west german police are arguing with east german border guards about it.

Second one is from the Swedish deployment to Congo in the early 60s, right after a fire fight.

thats a red alerst material

Whoa dude, is that some sort of early Archer prototype?

Attached: Sea Hawk's Engine start.jpg (1297x1030, 187K)

Yes and no.

The concept started in the erly 90's as a way to get the costal artillerys 12cm m/80 guns more mobile and transportable (previously they had only had towed and static artillery), and was thus a m/80 gun mounted on a Volvo dumper chassies. In 2000 the entire costal artillery of Sweden was re-organized into the Amphibious corps, and the project wasnt considered usefull in the new doctrine. It was then taken over by the Army who had followed it with great intrest. Adapting the concept for the army proved far more complicated then what anyone had assumed (but eventually done) despite the fact that the costal artillerys m/80 guns are basically a FH-77A in 12cm.

Pic related is what would have been the AA protection of the battalion (Rörlig spärrbataljon, aka Mobile blockade battalion), essentially just a 40mm m/48 mounted on the same chassies.

at about the 2 sec mark, is that a secondary explosion from a ship ?

Attached: U 137.jpg (1600x1171, 423K)

No flame or soot, and it quickly disperses into nothing, so I don't think it's fuel or munitions going off. Since it mostly just appears there and then quickly disappears again I'd guess it's moisture in the air that turns into water and quickly back to vapour again as the shockwave passes by.

Really? Thanks for the answer. Really really appreciated that.

Is that a predecessor to the FA18?

yes, it's a mock up of the YF-17 that went head to head with the YF-16. clearly it lost, but was reworked into what would become the Hornet, because if you miss out on a lucrative 40+ year contract with one branch, you can always sell your wares to another branch. Have to keep those "expense accounts" for you corporate execs full
