Have the opportunity to leave NYC and work remote in Maine.
As of October 15, 2015, a permit is not needed to carry a firearm - concealed or open - in the state of Maine, provided that the carrier is legally allowed to own a gun and is over 21 or a member or veteran of the military and over age 18.
Does this not make Maine the most gun friendly place other than Pennsylvania in the North East? Vermont got cucked with the magazine ban, so they are out. Any state better for guns up here?
Maine is the last bastion in NE for gun rights. Portland is a fucking hipster hive but the vast majority of the state is very outdoorsy and firearms oriented. If you have a solid job opportunity there, go for it.

Yeah, my job allows me to work anywhere in the north east as long as I have wifi.
Seems like a great place to live. Is it too good to be true?

It's as good as you are, user. If you miss the pizza that's your problem, not the state
James Price
Fair enough. Also the pizza is overrated. You can get a decent slice in almost any state.

Hows the political climate? Anyone trying to pass magazine limits/assualt weapon shit?
Bentley Kelly
I'm a Mainer.
Honestly, I think Maine and Alaska are the two most Jow Forums states period. Not only do we basically have no regulations beyond federal, but land restrictions are extremely lax. We have a tradition of open use of land built into our legal code. Basically, if there no no signs up saying otherwise, you are allowed to use the land recreationally in a respectful manner.
And because 96% of the state is forest, that means a lot of great shooting/immawoods opportunities.
Plus, the entire northwestern part of the state is wilderness. I work there as a forester. Here's a pic from the stream at my cabin.
