"Bring down" - .50 BMG
To eat afterwards - .30-06/.308 for long range or 45-70 gov for brush
VERY large
.700 Nitro Express with a machined copper bullet, and the hottest load imaginable, then a sturdy shoulder and the best rifle shooting form imaginable.
.300 Win Mag/45-70 Govt will deal with anything on Earth save for maybe cape buffalos and elephants.
At that point you're getting into .375 H&H Magnum and larger.
Sheepdogs and Claymores
Speaking of .300 Win Mag. I’m thinking about getting one. Specifically the R700 5-R in .300. My father has the .308 version and I love it.
Thoughts?
How do you grow small game into large game like this?
Remington has had poor reputation lately. Big reason I went Savage.
You into long range stuff or just got small penis/need to feel different syndrome?
Remington 700's have garbage quality control. The only way I'd own one is after having the action either blueprinted or trued at which point the tennon will have been altered and will require a new barrel.
I'd also recc a new barrel and professional bedding.
By the time you're done buying the gun and dealing with gunsmith fees you could have paid for a custom action/rifle from a reputable company.
this is my fetish.
.22 LR just aim well... really well

I was about to say with all that you may as well just get a custom 700 action and build it from there.
Remington 700 stock guns aren't terrible though. Very smooth bolt and very light bolt lift
Enjoy
It might take a lot
Check out tikka T3's in .300 win mag. I love mine.
No no no!!! Too big!
The category is called "dangerous game rifles". Examples of cartridges used are .500 Nitro and .460 Weatherby Magnum.
Even when you're shooting elephants, .50 BMG is usually too much to haul around.
Kardashian size differences
.22 Hornet
Don't get a Remington. Bergara, Browning, CZ, Tikka, and Winchester all make better rifles at a comparable price.
45-70 was designed to kill every single one of God's creations.
If 45-70 can't kill it, then it was not made by God
>it says WE on his helmet
Not being serious, .950 JDJ
That will turn anything you shoot with it into red mist.
Also if you can get your hands on a old anti tank rilfe like the Tankgewer or mabye a PTRD that could take down damn near anything
Now being serious,a .700 nitro express will fuck up your shit
another contender could be a .50 BMG but those aren't easy to get
>.50 BMG isn't easy to get
My LGS sells a titanium barret every 3 months or so.
Ehh. The Remington problems have been over hyped. I like the R700 platform because I can coustomoze it in the future but even stock its a sub MOA gun.
Plus I can add a detachable magazine if I want and rail. It has the 5-R barrel, twin front sling mounts, threaded barrel. Every other .300 rifle I’ve handle felt plasticky and I don’t think any have the customizability of the R700 platform.
Thanks, a useful reply.
Any specific?
I have a ton of guns but nothing long range so I’d like to get into that. Aiming for a reliable 1000yd gun that still has the ability to take bigger game. So either .300 winmag or .338 Lapua because of their accessibility in ammo and rifles. There might be better calibers but none that I know of for the price and ease of these. A gun store clerk was telling me about 6.5 but I know that’s been popular for a while now, just doesn’t seem to have the power. Accuracy yes, but not power.
I could just build some more parts kits as well.
