What is the best first handgun?

22

A full sized handgun in your caliber of preference. You can always cc it later assuming you're not a fatbody. Go to a funstore and finger fuck the ones in your price range to see which one fits your hands best. I'm biased to my USP, so, yeah.

Your photo you dumb faggot

I'll get the obvious answer out of the way. Unironically a G19. It can do duty shit, CC shit, HD shit. And if you end up not liking it they're a quick sell. The ergos might take some getting used to and the trigger is sort of crummy but it was easy for me to get past.

First handgun I shot was an M9, the first I purchased for myself was a CZ-75B. I love it, the full metal frame feels great and recoil is very manageable for follow up shots.
>inb4 soiboi meme
You just need to personally handle multiple at a rent range and decide for yourself though, everyone’s different.

Learning to shoot? Rent a .22 from your local range.

Buying your first gun? Rent a bunch and finger fuck all of them.

Pro-tip: Shooting .38 special out of a .357 model 28 single action style is easymode target shooting.

any full size 9mm

>sig fails and is overpriced
>springfields have shitty triggers are are uber plasticy
>colt has basically gone under and I wouldn't bother paying that much anyway
>taurus will literally create accidents
>hi point will get you made fun of

So that more or less leaves ruger, beretta, and glock

just get a glock 19, you'll be happy and wont have to worry about anything

Or spend like $50 more abd get a VP9 or PPQ which have much better ergonomics and dont grenade like a g19

You really fell for all the memes

memes shadow reality user

TAURUS PT111 G2 is a very affordable compact pistol that is almost aclone of a shield with its ergonomics for less then half the price... has a double stack mag and holds 12+1 in 9mm... Hickok45 even had good things to say...It's my EDC work gun, as to keep the holster wear and grime, grease and dust of my nice guns... I honestly do not regret the purchase one bit and ive always had a healthy distrust of Taurus!!!

Glock 19

>Trusting your life with a Tarus

CZ 75 or a good revolver. I'm convinced buying a Glock first turns you into a striker queer for at least a decade.

1911. Don't be a pussy.

I own about a dozen pistols including G26 and G19, I carry the USP just because I can. Anyone else just have fun carrying big guns?

buy something cheap & used. use it. train with it. see what features you like/hate about it. then save the money for the gun you end up liking the most.

buying something expensive/new for the 1st gun is retarded.

Something SA/DA ideally with a safety and/or decocker. It is a better learning opportunity than striker fired guns and the additional safety measures aren't a bad idea for a newbie

Unironically a Hi-Point C9. Wasting a good gun on a first time shooter is pointless, and a C-9 has all the controls and features that a gun should have for a first time shooter.

>know friend of friend
>see him at parties a few times a year since he lives in Cali
>drives brand new Mercedes
>show him my AR
>next party
>hey I moved to Vegas lets go shooting
>sig p238 and FN AR 16" m4gery
>next party
>lost car and sold both guns at big losses

The SD9VE is a better choice if you're gonna go full poorfag.

>beretta m9 or 92
>glock whatever
>m&p whatever
but what do I know, my first pistol was a 1911

Didn't feel like researching all the guns and shit so I just bought a G19. Happy so far. I'm never left out with training or accessories. I might get something else when I develop preferences but I don't think I'll get rid of it.

Ruger Alaskan in 454 casull.

I wouldn't recommend anyone get a g19 for their first gun. Glock 19 is about the most boring gun you can choose for your first. Polymer striker fired gun that everyone has with a crappy trigger is really boring to me and a good way to kill your enjoyment of shooting. I would get something full size that is nicer. I would say

Beretta 92
CZ 75
HK USP
HK VP9
Walther P99
Walther PPQ

Choose whatever fits your hand well and you can shoot well.

>recommend a Taurus
I hope you get raped

Because the 19 is the new IT gun. The one for popular kids to have. When you hear teens who know nothing about guns absolutely brag on the merits of the 19 over all other guns you know it's a passing fancy. Its merely a meh pistol. Not great and not shitty. Kinda like modern restaurants that make bland good so the largest amount of people will be repeat customers. No strong tastes so the least amount of people will be turned off by something they serve.

Smith & Wesson Model 10. Basic gun, easy to learn how to operate, no need to buy additional magazines.

Attached: S&WModel10HB.jpg (600x322, 101K)

This is the only correct answer.

user the Glock 19 has been the most memed handgun for the past two decades almost

This guy gets it.

S&W SD9VE, cheap gun, ghetto gun, buy more ammo, change out trigger allows you to learn more about guns. Then alright gun.
Then sell that shit and get a Lever action in .357 mag with a matching revolver. Add with cowboy hat and you are good to go.

Attached: SD9VE.jpg (1920x1080, 178K)

Other option is sell it to a friend interesting in guns and have them repeat with the lever, revolver and hat. Then have them do the same with another friend. Soon you can have your own posse. Purchase land. Roam it. See pic.

CZ-75 BD

CZ-75

no stop you'll make the meme stronger

Where can I sign up

OP needs to join the Church of CZ.

I just ordered a glock 22. Soon to be hasguns

Glocks are pretty good first handguns since they have awful triggers, sights and grips - if you learn to shoot with a piece of shit like that, you'll be phenomenal when you finally get yourself and actually good handgun.

>posttime

Glock 17.

Charlie please

Gay. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I support you.

I got a high standard 1911 in 45

That's why I posted it.

Attached: DSCF0326.jpg (1600x1200, 632K)

Well, I enjoyed my Buck Mark.

Duh huh can't cc unless you're a perfect physical specimen. Durhur durhur.

Someone's a fatty.

i got my first handgun this february
after a month of careful research i learned that glocks are the best
but im a contrarian so i got a CZ P-07
+ comfy, easy to shoot, SA DA, not too expensive.
- big as fuck slide release and decocker levers. expensive spare mags.

Improved CZ75

Lol why even bother carrying if you're just gonna kys with food?

>Tfw noguns but seriously considering a Jewricho as my first gun.
Is it worth it bros? I like the sound of a CZ75 but I'm shallow and really like how the Jericho looks.

Attached: 1505334924111.jpg (1033x687, 181K)

I dont think you've ever owned a gun and you're only parroting what you've heard others say

A full size handgun prints harder if you have fat rolls. You can CC a full size if you want and wear Hawaiian shirts year round.

How can I tell what I shoot well before buying it?

Then please take a look at the baby desert eagle. It is an improved version of the jericho 941.

You'll come full circle. You'll try everything else and end up back at the 19, then realize it's superior to every other handgun. I did it. I tried every meme gun out there. Only one I've kept along for the ride is the 19. Now I'm done looking for something better. It does what it needs to do and I trust it with my life.

Find a range that also lets you rent guns. Or dive right in. Find the one that fits in your hand well and go for it. Your standard 9/40/45s aren't terrible in compacts/full size pistols and if you let them rock you then I suggest lifting.

Hell no. Only reason to buy a 941 is for weeb tendencies. And the modern ones are not justifiable for the price compared to the alternatives.

Attached: spice boy.jpg (500x571, 21K)

They unironically have one of the best triggers on the market when you learn how to use them properly. Maybe not for break neck ranges, but 25 yards and in a stock Glock trigger is fantastic.

>gun memes have no bearing on reality

i own a shit ton of guns, but only glock pistols because I don't like sig, springfield, colt, or taurus because of either how they shoot or because of the price point. I'd invest $1000 in a nice sig p226 but I usually end up building an AR when I have money for guns. When I look for a handgun I look for something that's tough, reliable, and cheap enough to beat up and not feel bad.

GP100.

38 spl for cheap plinking and learning.
No mags or memes to buy.
.357 for when you want to be a big boy, and handload.

Fitting your hand well is a meme user. You need to find a gun you shoot well. Some people hate the way a Glock feels in their hand and shoot it exceptionally well. Some love the way a VP9 or P30 feels but can't hit the broad side of a barn.

I mean if you wear extra small gloves I wouldn't suggest going all in on a USP.

Not to mention the recent surge in quality control issues at SIG. Then you factor in the meme level bore axis, weight, price, and you're back at Glock. SIG's are some of the smoothest pistols on the market when they run right, but you will never make followup shots as quickly as you can with a Glock because the barrel is 2 inches above your grip.

I wear extra extra large gloves. I would carry a USP without question, but I already have a Glock 19 that works well enough for me to not give a shit enough.

Smith and Wesson .357 revolvers

Won't be disappointed.

So what compact 9mm should I "dive right in with"?

I typically carry a G19 as well but dicking around with a USP is fun

Attached: 20180527_210502-01.jpg (2301x1920, 1.76M)

The one that looks neat to you and is in your price range.

You can't go wrong with a Glock 17 or Glock 19, but they are most certainly not superior to every other handgun. I like Glocks very much, but most of the criticism about Glocks are valid observations of a flawed design..

But what if Jow Forums doesn't like it and I get memed on?

>a flawed design

Is there an unflawed design for anything?

>caring about what strangers on a Bhutanese underwater basket weaving forum think about you
My advice is avoid Taurus, Springfield, Canik and literal who wonder 9s. Everything else is fair game.

Pic related is a Glock 19. Too bad I can't shoot a USP with my small hands.

Attached: image1.jpg (1459x1476, 466K)

they can fuck off, buy what makes you happy and comfortable

so don't be a faggot and buy a gen 4 glock 19

Smith and Wesson 500 Magnum

Attached: maxresdefault (15).jpg (3000x2250, 316K)

But they are superior, and you will eventually learn. There's a reason every firearms instructor carries one.

>The one that looks neat to you and is in your price range.
Bad advice. It should be the one that feels best in your hand and the trigger feels best to you.

Attached: 1516490981053.jpg (400x300, 21K)

>so don't be a faggot and buy a gen 4 glock 19

Wait, does that mean I'm a faggot if I buy one, or if I don't?

How dense can Jow Forums be?
>buy a pistol that fits your hand by going to a gun store and handling it
So, what I said is don't buy it blind then find out your hand is too small/large to fit the gun properly. It was not an insult, a call out, a derogatory remark. It was to make him aware that not all pistols have the same grip size and that your hand size should be considered before buying blind. This can be resolved by going to the store and handling it to make sure that you are happy with how well it fits in your hand. Nothing more.

yes

I'll avoid your criticism by buying one, but then slipping it into a storm drain once I walk out of the store.

This dude knows.

If I could only have and carry one gun it would be a Glock 17, but they aren't superior to other guns. The reason is simply because it will be the most common gun carried thus spare parts would be the most abundant.

>being this big of a meme

You can handle all the guns you want in the store, and find out that fits like a glove, but at the end of the day you probably won't shoot it better than the one you thought felt like shit.

It's simply the most common gun because it's the best gun.

?

Do people that do this keep the shirt open to make it more loose around the gun, or closed so it doesn't get blown open by wind?

Listen here u lil shit leave muh week guns alone

A good quality, reliable .22.

Attached: Ruger_mkiii_bull.jpg (1680x1050, 140K)

Needing to start out in smaller calibers is the biggest meme of all time.

i learned marksmanship with .177 air pellet guns and my first 2 and only real guns are 9mm and 5.56

Some memes hold within them nuggets of truth.

.22 ammunition is cheap, giving the n00b shooter more bangs per dollar. Right now I can go to Wal-Mart and buy a carton of 550 rounds of .22 hollowpoints for a hair under $20, before sales tax. That MIGHT get me 100 rounds of the cheapest, dirtiest, Russian steel case 9mm if I found a good deal online--and I'd have to pay shipping for them. More bangs for the same amount of money is a good thing.

Less recoil and less noise are less distracting and allow the n00b gun owner to build skill and muscle memory without picking up a flinch. This is also a good thing.

I'm over forty years old. I've been shooting since I was six. I own magnum revolvers (I'm a bit of a Ruger fanboy when it comes to wheelguns, actually), 1911s, XDs, M&Ps, along with an assortment of long guns. But he handgun I shoot the most, month in and month out is a Ruger Mk. III I got over ten years ago. I've put over fifty thousand rounds through it.

It's fun. It's relaxing. Front sight, press. Front sight, press. Front sight, press. And I have found that concentrating on these fundamentals and having the muscle memory helps a lot when I get out one of the centerfire guns.

I'm not saying that it's impossible to start out with a centerfire handgun, and I'm not saying that .22 LR is highly suited to all the other things we have handguns for (like self-defense) but they still make and sell .22 pistols for a reason. Lots of people seem to find them practical and useful.

FNS

Thank me later when you can actually run one handed drills and don't shoot yourself in the leg/dick

I own two. They're solid guns.

I own pistols varying from nigger tier HiPoint C9, to an HK VP9. A Taurus PT111 is definitely a solid FIRST gun. It's not going to break the bank buying one, and when you outgrow it for something fancier or with more capacity, throw it in the car's glove box or in a bug out bag.

So if I'm 5'11 175 with visible abs can I carry a Glock 20?
