As someone who has hunted and successfully harvested everything from white tail to grizzly I can comfortably say that any round can bring a target down, but shot placement is what keeps them down.

One case would be when I was moose hunting with my brother and he jumped the draw on his compound and the arrow about flew over the bull moose. The moose jumped at the last second though and caught the arrow in the spine. Son of a bitch buckled under his own weight dead.

A clean hit with a 9mm will do the same thing as a .40 99% of the time. Fuck an arrow with a field tip out of a 30 pound compound straight to the human heart will do about the same damn thing as a .40 to the same spot.

Agreed, .25 Auto is the best self defense round period. It's so small it will go in between bones to hit vital organs.

It doesn't matter at this point. Modern high quality smokeless powder and bullet design make the choice academic. Carry whatever you feel works best for you.
