Why does Jow Forums prefer the kar98 and Mosin to this beauty?

Is it mostly price and availability?

Because Jow Forums is made full of poor fags with shit taste in milsurp. You, on thr other hand, have impeccable taste.

There are 10 times as many Mosins or Mauser 98s as M1903s/03A3s produced. They're more popular because they're literally more popular.

the M1917 is the true perfection of milsurp.

The Remington/Springfield 1903 is a true beauty. I much prefer a 30-06 over kraut 8mm or commie magic Mosins

>how come people prefer these cheap 5-round military rifles over this more expensive 5-round military rifle?

What's wrong with a mosin?
Just yesterday I went to the desert and I shot shit tier 147grain out of it then switched to 174 grain out of it and gave me a nice kick. Tore the shit out of a container I had set up.

/thread

It’s a piece of shit compared to the 1903

Overpriced Mauser copy, IMO.

They're nice, OP, but I have two Pattern-14 rifles and two actual k98's that I prefer over this thing. For Yank history I have a Garand and an M1A (closest we can get to an M-14 in Canuckistan), the 1903 just doesn't interest me.

Are they really that great?
Some auction site is selling one for 850 eurobucks

Nothing. There isn't a major difference in performance between any milsurp bolt guns. Most on Jow Forums only have a very limited experience though.

Jesus...

I'd spend that much if it were in immaculate condition, but your prices over there are right out to lunch.

1903s and 1917 are just rare here, that´s why they are expensive.
Most milsurps are still fairly affordable. Nazi-marked Mausers are getting kinda expensive as well.

mostly availability. how much were produced anyways?

Wehrboos and slavboos

Couldn't be that few. The US fielded millions of men in WWI and they used it extensively early in WWII.

Still got used in Korea often as a DMR and even in Vietnam.

Unless they destroyed them, which could be.

Makes sense.

Those go for about $650 CAD (same price, lol) here in good shape. K11's are around the $1000 CAD mark, but a few years back went for half that.

I'd love to shoot on a Swiss range...

Ooops, by 'K11' I meant K31.

wehraboos and caliber circlejerking, also you can still get non German mausers for cheap

Springfield is objectively a superior rifle though.

>Couldn't be that few.
Just over 3 Million M1903 and 1903A3s by Springfield, Rock Island, Remington and Smith Corona from 1903-1944.

Compare that to 21.5 Million Gew.98s/Kar.98ks alone made in Germany 1898-1945 and 25 Million Mosins made by the Russians from 1891-1949.

Most of our guys in WWI had the 1917.

>recreations made is Springfield, Missouri claiming made in Springfield...

If George Washington and Henry Knox didn't bump dicks over your factory sight it's not a Springfield.

>Is it mostly price and availability?
Pretty much spot on. I love mine, but prices are slowly rising since surplus 1903's dried up several years ago.
Sooner or later you won't be able to find any milsurp rifles for under $1k.
Yugo Mausers are fantastic rifles for the price right now, but before long those will probably be fetching almost $600 for one in good condition and continue to rise.
Even Russian capture K98's which were $400-$500 a few years ago are now creeping up into the $700-$800 range. I think sweaty Ben was selling some RC K98's for well over $1k not too long ago, just because he can.
Non-Import German K98's are hard to find nowadays for under $1k.

M1903a3 > M1917 > M1903a1 > M1903 > M189x Krag

The m1891 was obsolete in WW2 it's a inaccurate piece of shit.

Poor slav bois like it because it used to be 100 bucks for a decent example. Straight bolt handle designs are retarded.

Remington didn't improve anything. they just made the gun cheaper.

>it's a inaccurate piece of shit.
It's no less accurate than any other rifle of the era.

dont they have really thin front sights that are hard to use in low light?

I have a finger grooved 1903 sans Hatcher Hole. It's supreme sex.

Longer sight radius with better sights.

Beautiful gun, really.

The 03 yes, it’s hard for me to pick up even on a bright day. The 03A3 sight is great

O3A3 master race reporting in.

not for that price. decent rifle, but compared to an actual springfield '03 of any type it almost feels like a chinese knockoff. less 'dense' in your hands if that makes any sense

Cause why buy that when you can have a Garand?

M1903A4 with it's scope is best

Fragile unnecessary two part firing pin.
