My cousin lost his wife and child in a car accident...

My cousin lost his wife and child in a car accident. He was devastated and involuntarily committed for two weeks because he was considering suicide. Now he can't pass a background check to buy a shotgun to go duck hunting with me. In NC nothing is required to buy a long gun in a private purchase so be bought one off a guy on armslist. So now he has one, but its illegal for him to possess it. Since he's not a felon and has no criminal record, not even a speeding ticket, how would anyone know he's not legally supposed to have it? If any cop or game warden ran him through their system while he was hunting or at home he'd be clean, doesn't the mental health flags only pop up when a FFL is running a check for a purchase?

you literally are some autistic skits fuck who has a gun and are asking what you can get away with.

no you cant get a friend to keep it for you idiot.

Because I will rat out your cousin, in fact I'm calling the atf right now.

this is exactly why i posted for him because i new some asshole like you wouldnt answer the question and say it was bullshit

also if you don't think police have mental health records your literally retarded. of course they do. they need it to know who they are dealing with.

liar any one who asks some thing for a friend on Jow Forums is a liar and any one who asks how to unlock a iPhone they accidently lost access to is also a liar

you shouldn't have a gun you raddled brain fucktard. once they catch it with you they will put you in a federal mental word for 10 years.

He should unironically never carry a gun when he's by himself. The only real answer is to let him "borrow" the gun until he's in the clear. He probably shouldn't be left alone with a gun in the long run.

your a fucking dick. He lost his wife and 6 month old son, and when he got out of the hospital we decided to plan a family duck hunt like we did when we were kids to show him the whole family loved him and had his back. And we get to Cabelas and he failed the background check. Can you imagine how embarrassed he was when the store clerk announced it loudly and everyone around him thought he was a felon. None of us even had a clue his hospital stay would matter, we had to google what involuntary stay even meant.

This is beyond scary and more proof the mental health care system is not out to help you but enslave you.

Talk to a lawyer, think it's 5 years and it goes away but with a few papers filed and a 3rd party shrink giving you an OK it's a lot quicker.

Sorry to hear that about this entire story.

fake story why the fuck would he go for a background check right after leaving a mental word you idiot you don't just suddenly forget that you fucking spurg.

you shouldn't have a gun you probably stole it off your granddad or some shit your a fucking looser get rid of it or get ready to spend a decade locked up.

a shrink wont help him this guy probably spurged out when he was 17 about a girl not liking him and got sent to hospital for suicide or he is a meth head it wont go away in 5 years this OP is literally full of shit.

>he shouldn't be left alone

Let the poor dude kill himself. Goddamn, he doesn't have anything to live for. None of you children have any idea what that kind of loss is like.

Why post that image tripfag

What the fuck is wrong with people in this thread. Suicide should be completely legal. Life is gay and all you fucking brainlets trying to force people to continue living after they have lost everything are cold blooded bastards.

I was kinda on your side right up until

>we had to google what involuntary stay even meant

Yeeeahhh... might be just as well, man.

>He was devastated and involuntarily committed for two weeks because he was considering suicide.
He was considering suicide and he told someone. First mistake. This is why you get blackout drunk and keep the shit to yourself.

OP look there are plenty of children in this thread that clearly don't understand what its like to loose it all, please disregard the harsh statements being made as frivolous bait.
After some of my experiences while I was in the army that I couldn't get out of my head and while I was in a drunken state after a massive argument with one of my closest
buddies I figured I should just end it after losing it all ( and for those wondering it was with a knife, I still cared about not adding to the statistics even in my worst) luckily I was stopped
and I was given the ultimatum whether to voluntarily commit myself or to be involuntarily committed. Thankfully I voluntarily went in and spared myself what your friend is going through, there is hope however, look into your states policy on petitioning the probate court that gave him the invol with enough evidence and a good lawyer that he is in a proper mental state
now. You may also want to look into rehabilitative programs that allow previously invol committed people to regain gun rights ( had an NCO in oregon that did this in all places after he
had TBI and PTSD so he could get back into the army).

This is so fucking retarded I cant even.
>always get help
>alcohol makes things worse
Its much better to get assistance than postpone the problem and further enhance stigma
Its almost like people in this thread want MORE people with issues and access to firearms to snap.

I tell myself it's to bear witness, obviously it's my programming, and I lack the Constitution for suicide.

>Always get help
America has a problem by treating mental health like physical health. The governments plan for suicide is to take away your rights. We see this in the VA as well.

Don't tell anyone your suicidal. I'm sorry it's like that but that's the way it is.

God you're such a tripfag

Felon with gun rights reinstated here. I have my ccw and carry everyday. In my state I was able to petition the superior court for my rights back, and they are obligated to reinstate them if you qualify. Many lawyers will charge you a thousand or two to do the petition for you, but I did it myself and went without a hitch and used my lawyer money to buy my guns.

this is only true if you are INVOLUNTARILY COMMITTED otherwise your shit is actually protected BY the government through HIPPA, this is bullshit and you know it and all you are doing by perpetuating stupid
superstition is furthering an already massive problem

this.

you can get gun rights reinstated relatively easy for reasonable accommodations. they will dig up your past and personal life so if you are shithead it will just further fuck you over.

also the VA only takes your rights if you need assistance managing your own Finances, also the only other way to have rights taken is if you are adjudicated mentally Ill, this only applies if it is done through a lawful authority and a diagnosis will not qualify for this. AKA meaning it must be through due process.

The VA ruling was removed by trump early in his administration btw
