I lived in Great Bend for 3 years when I was a kid back in the 80's. Some highlights of my stay included:

>standing on the front porch and watching 3 tornadoes dancing in the distance on the horizon
>running through a wheat field in the back yard while wearing short sleeves and pair of shorts only to discover the seed heads were like razor blades, body covered in small cuts
>goats head thorns that were the most painful thing I have ever stepped on to this day
>tumbleweeds
>jack rabbits
>wind in the summer that doesn't cool you off - blows hot like a fucking furnace fan
>my pet Boxer got run over by a combine and shredded to bits
>coldest winters I have ever experienced

I hated living there but the people were all really nice. Seemed like they were all of German descent. My dad was a crop duster and sprayed wheat and alfalfa crops while we lived there. I was glad when we moved back to Georgia.

I liked Lawrence honestly. Everything between Iowa Street and Clinton Lake is an average relatively clean suburb, very little college town shit unless you hang out in the student ghetto or mass street.

Agreed. I live close to waka so it isn't too bad. But i avoid mass st and the college like they have ebola.

Ive never seen a pheasant in this state, Im pretty sure that everyone has shot them all. The only place where pheasant still are is in nebraska, sd or ND.
