This always baffled me. So much of today's important data is stored in places that are not heavily secured. Yet there was no attempt to disrupt them. Why is that? Does attack on such facilities which can cause tens of millions dollars in damage is not viable?

I don't know. Then again, I'm not a terrorist.
Generally terrorists are third world niggers that dont really possess high level thinking skills
That's exactly what a terrorist would say.
>hacking is easier than physical attacks
>servers are in literal high security bunkers
>everything is backed up in the event of the above
>places that are not heavily secured
>NSA Utah data center
pick one
>tens of millions dollars in damage
sweetie, when you "misplace"(nudge nudge, wink wink) hundreds of billions at a time, you aren't going to feel tens of millions
>server room inside a cold war bunker built into rock under a hill with actual blast doors
>not heavily secured
If we're talking non-DoD shit, one of the easiest things in the world to do with 8 bits is make a another copy somewhere else. With virtualization, disk imaging, and snapshots, DDoS attacks are only good for short term outages.
Besides, the easy money is ransomware that seizes up 50 soccer moms laptops for $250 a pop per day
They'd be shooting themselves in the foot. They use the internet for recruitment too, and messing with the bread and circuses pisses people off instead of inspiring fear.
i was taking about these

>Besides, the easy money is ransomware that seizes up 50 soccer moms laptops for $250 a pop per day
yeah, especially when those soccer moms click links to morally questionable websites for hookups... stupid fucking roasties
99% of terrorists are retarded. And then of the 1% not retarded, they're either not creative at all, or they have such low people skills they're not able to pull off anything requiring cooperation and consolidation of diverse skillsets.
Also, terrorists don't really go after the economy of a society, they're going after the psychology. It's way easier to destroy the economy, since you don't really need to directly hurt anyone, and the calls will come in too late for the authorities to find most of them.
I'm amazed of how poorly planned a lot of the terrorist acts are, most of the time. 9/11 is really the exception. Even if they have plenty of resources, and a network of people willing to do awful shit, it's almost always "attack big target in city", "shoot at innocent people until the cops show up, then die" or "blow up embassy".
It's a waste of resources, and they most often end up killing less than ten people per terrorist. And it's too repetitive. One truck of peace, and every terrorist try that for a while, one mass shooting, and everyone try that for a while. None of them seem to be able to think outside the box. But then again, they're mostly following a religion where thinking outside the box will get them killed.
what about those cultists who tired to poison salad bars to win the election?
story?
Rajneeshpuram?
Shit is probably backed up at multiple sites anyways. You would have to do a coordinated strike at multiple data centers do actually destroy that data.
>The 1984 Rajneeshee bioterror attack was the food poisoning of 751 individuals in The Dalles, Oregon, through the deliberate contamination of salad bars at ten local restaurants with Salmonella. A leading group of followers of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh (later known as Osho) called Rajneeshees had hoped to incapacitate the voting population of the city so that their own candidates would win the 1984 Wasco County elections.[2] The incident was the first and single largest bioterrorist attack in United States history.[3][4] The attack is one of only two confirmed terrorist uses of biological weapons to harm humans since 1945, the other being the 2001 anthrax attacks across the USA.[5]
This.
Smart people do not generally join career fields with a 100% mortality rate.
Dipshit dads ain't any better. Fuck load of guys at work have Tinder accounts despite being married. Hope that nut is worth half their house and 401k.
My friend's dad and my GF's mom both fell for ransomware and paid. Boomers are fucking retarded.
>why don't groups created by the Deep State attack the Deep State?
Real fucking mystery material right there.
Nice try NSA.
That said, don't give 'em ideas.
And the important data is rather well secured physically; always was with the military, and now private companies catch up quickly (big ones first, naturally).
>now private companies catch up quickly (big ones first, naturally).
facebook and google are unironically the best places to back up all you data
>Why is that?
No one gives a shit about computer chips.
>what is a backup
brown people have low IQs. what we need to be worried about is them setting off an EMP knocking out our electrical infrastructure.
Because the info is for sale. They can just buy it cheap.
Hey.
Remember when insurgents hacked UAVs from their hideouts?
Hey.
Hold on, hold on.
How easy is to make regional-wide EMP device these days? Even a retard could do it, isn't, user?
This bait sure is stinky
Ok OP pick your target
>secure data center with high security and many guns pointed at you
or
>Ms.Sandys third grade class
Beat me to it. Op is a fucking retard.
Terrorists are overrated : they are not your 90's Action movie master tacticians and hackers, today they are more like the Third-World lumpenproletariat : lowest class, failed education, chronically inbred since centuries, clinically retarded and insane according to the Western standards of mental health.
It would take a high-agency, high-IQ, high-education human stock to pull a complex attack like that.
>niggers who are SO RETARDED that they actually pray to "alah" and think that killing white people is going to get the anything except genocide
>doing anything smart
no lol
Terrorists are motivated by scripture and preachings, data information centers won't fulfill their martyrdom dreams.
The CIA wouldn't want their massive propaganda/surveillance machine destroyed, sweaty
Because no one would give a fuck, bombing a datacenter causing 10 million USD in damage would make the headline but nobody would actually care, the metcalf power plant shooting caused 15 million in damage and nobody cares and relatively few have even heard of it. Destroying major inter-atlantic cables might get some normie interest but that's a bit hard to pull off.
Google is supposedly storing data for many governments. They just give out their locations. Security is not great either.
Did it work?
Because that would actually impede the alphabet soup's operations so they don't organize such attacks and catch any grassroots shitters ahead of time.
They don't need it. If you live in a western country and are planning an attack in any way but completely off the grid, the cianiggers know about it from your instaface shopping history
It happens a lot, but they don't disrupt them because most of the attackers seek to use the information for things like blackmail instead. Why would they really want to stop something that helps them achieve their goals? Even if you don't break laws, it's entirely feasible that these entities could release information to destroy individuals lives with minimum effort or order to affect politics, economics, and even just for shits and giggles. Of course, why our government obtains vast amounts of knowledge in order to never use it and simply have it stolen is beyond me since the logic appears poorly thought out. I really think the idea of not being a tyrannical government is rather moot if you allow other countries to do it.

In a way the United States is being ransacked right now despite how incredibly calm everything is.
Rajneeshee story is quite bizarre. They had dozens of attempted murders. They put above 200 people in hospital. However no one died so their story is not immensely popular. Weirdest thing for me is that the woman which orchestrated all that attacks spent 2 years in prison. She now lives free in Switzerland and she owns nursing home. I imagine that the punishment for widespread salmonella poisoning should be higher.
>implying they don' have more they don't list which are the ones that deal with the actually important information
It would be easy. I did some cable fiber work in college and for the cost of gas money and some time 3-5 dudes could really fuck shit up.
