Ravioli ravioli..... this doesn't rhyme with Carcano. But I won, which is the important part.

Which rifle is nicer/more aesthetic, and why?

Attached: 22.jpg (1275x534, 521K)

mauser is better in basically every regard

>buy Mosin for $199 in a CAI mystery box
>seller says it's never been opened since it was bought ages ago
>open box
>it looks brand new without a single scratch on it, no counter-bore, all matching, etc.
>except it's drowning in cosmoline
>so much cosmoline that it's enough to fill a bucket
>tfw it's gonna take eons to get rid of all of it
FUCK

Got super lucky on pic related, Galil ARM kit from apex, everything is in barely-used condition except some paint chipping on the stock and some minor surface rust on two of the mags. My questions:
>receiver
Is the Tortort 100% receiver good shit? I figure at $500 they should match or beat original IMI quality.
>builder
Anyone have experience with Twin Rivers Firearms? Even if not Galil, do they do good work?
>parts
Anyone got a line on night sights, bipods, or carry handles?

Enfield, both in terms of function and looks.
It'll take at most a few days.

Kappin, ya girl fat.

>Enfield better than Mauser
Get off the internet, Churchill.

>complaining about glorious cosmoline

I grabbed an airsoft carry handle for my ARM, for $30 you aren't going to notice the difference.

Both are fine. Mauser will have better action, Enfield will have faster action.

What are they chambered in? .303 is kinda hard to find in my area. Me person, I'd get the Mauser assuming it's not a Mitchells.

Truth hurts Fritz.
Her ass is at least.

Pic? Hows the construction?

Grouping hurts Tommy

Yes, but only when you can actually see the sights to begin with.

Also, hon hon hon.

>tfw can use Mauser sights with ease and keep a tight group
>meanwhile ANY peep sight (Garand, Enfield, you name it) is an absolute mess
I have no idea what's going on here.

No. That one was on my watchlist but the one I ended up with is a antique (1894), which makes it cooler to me. Did you end up winning?

anyone want to lend me a few shekels?

>bidding on stuff from a known shill bidder
Don't do it.

cock-on-close mausers are best. Otherwise, Enfield.

Attached: weeb autism '41.jpg (4032x1598, 3.36M)

$6500 would be my max on that, so it's still in fair territory.
Sometimes you have to. Might not see another one of these for years.

feel like RIA has at least one a year

Finally pulled the trigger on one of my dream rifles, and it comes with a bayonet and two extra extractors as a plus. Feels good.

I love absolutely everything about the Type 38 and its variants, except the fact that they're cock-on-close. Other than that they're peak aesthetic.

Try /akg/, they'd probably be more knowledgeable about it. Galils are super neat though, good luck on it.

Attached: longboiincoming.png (1186x541, 268K)

All of those are unobtanium. If you got an arm kit without them you're fucked, the bipod gas block alone costs 200+ on average.

Attached: Galil.jpg (2592x1728, 1.57M)

Why don't you like the cock-on-close? The Type 38 has the smoothest bolt of any Mauser I've shot and it's almost as smooth as an Enfield.

Cock-on-close certainly isn't bad, I love Enfield bolt, but I just prefer cock-on-open. My Type 38 has a really rough bolt, so that adds on to the dislike.

Attached: 20180308_113929.png (1638x478, 988K)

Ah that makes sense. Even though my Type 38 looks like it was thrown in a garbage disposal, it's got an amazingly smooth bolt. It just sucks I can't ever work the bolt as fast as I want because I don't want to have the brass go flying somewhere I can't find it.

>Paying more than $100 for a carcano.

Bruh...

>have no idea if I missed something
>mfw no worried I got a gun that is broke to shit

Attached: 1520819820736.jpg (657x527, 52K)

Mine is antique, worth a bit more to me. You also got a better steal than I did, since $500 is the standard price for proper 1891s.

Tortort is what Jeff Miller (Hillbilly Firearms) recommended for me when I called him. That mother fucker has built more Galils than anyone else in the US.

I'm pissed I missed out on a M1903A3 Cosmo drenched for $650. Seller description was it came like that from the CMP in 01 and was selling it "as is" since they couldn't evaluate it thru all the cosmo.

Thats a steal

Mausers in general are what I picture when I think of the quintessential bolt action rifle.

Enfields are nice, but the lines arent as pleasing. It's a wartime product and it shows- Not to say I still don't love .303.

Attached: IMG_20180530_194609.jpg (2150x3825, 2.14M)

My dream is to have a minty K98k or 1903 (not a3), but I'm pretty sure that won't happen without dropping some serious coin...

Attached: IMG_20180530_194642.jpg (2276x4048, 2.43M)

Went to the 1500 today and passed on a SCW Mosin for $299.00. I'm mildly disappointed that the seller wouldn't budge on his price. Left with two packs of 54R and two Garand en blocs. /blog

I know that's why I'm pissed. Saw it at 8pm on Friday and decided to buy it the next day. Come 2pm the next day it was marked sold. Fuck my luck.

I ended up passing on going to it due to recent lack of work. Got a big shutdown comming a the local GM plant so I'll be rolling in surp cash in a few weeks.

>I know that feel.

I baby my type 38 at the range so I can keep my brass all together, if not it spits them like 6 feet

Attached: IMG_20170126_185124.jpg (3168x3006, 2.25M)

How much do you think I could sell a Suomi M31 with a drum, stick, and green leather sling for?

>I don't want to have the brass go flying somewhere I can't find it. I don't want to have the brass go flying somewhere I can't find it.

>it spits them like 6 feet

I thought my STG-58 part gun shot it's brass into the Stratosphere. Then I fired my MAS 49/56 for the first time. It launches it's brass into low Earth orbit.

If your talking a honest to god real NFA form 4 Suomi, I would think take no less than $4k. To admit I try to stay out of the FA market (since the 90's are over, I can live with just one FA) so my opinion can really be off.

I am looking at water cooled MG's at the moment. They tend to be priced less since they are not "tacti-cool".

Whats a decent price for a 1940's Tula SVT-40? Asking for a friend

2008 called, they want their prices back

>My dream is to have a minty K98k
Dam fine gun user. One got passed down through my family from WW2. I can't believe how much they cost these days.

No, it’s a TNW semi auto. I’d totally pay 4K for a full giggle one, but since FA mac11s are like 6k now I doubt that they run that much.

Anyone here try out the surplus German made .303 ammo from SGammo?
I am thinking of buying either 150 Dollars worth of .303 ammo or saving up and having that money go towards a new surplus rifle, maybe a m48.
Someone please help me decide.

I bought 600 rounds of it. Haven’t shot it yet but MEN is quality ammo. It won’t be around again. Last time I saw any surplus 303 at all was some Greek stuff mid 2015. It was $.25 a shot and I kick myself for not grabbing more. It was just as accurate as PPU

I've occasionally seen South African surplus going for around 60 cents a round at gun shows in the past year or so. I've got it when I could, but at that rate it's not much better than reloading.

Should i buy a nugget?

Someone i know has a few of them and some other milsurp he's trying to clear out.

I don't know the specific details or markings yet, but he's got a model produced in 1913 with some ammo and a sling for $150. He said the bore was a little rough.

Attached: fba[1].jpg (960x720, 38K)

Depending on how the bore looks, that's probably a steal.

That being said, Mosins really aren't all that great of a gun. Everyone loved to meme about them because they were cheap, but they're pretty much the worst milsurp bolt action available on the market. It's not bad enough that you won't have fun shooting it - the blast alone is great even if you're not hitting anything - but if you're used to using any other milsurp bolt guns it'll be pretty obvious how bad it is. That being said, it's probably the most idiot-proof gun I've ever encountered.

Attached: garbage rod.jpg (3024x2268, 988K)

M48 a absolute best
get a ZRAK for it too

I can't even tell who's farming who for (you)s at this point

Yeah, all this K98 and Mosin posting is bad, post other less known surp.

lelwut

The Mosin's objectively a shit design. It's arguable the best of any country's first smokeless powder repeaters, but while everyone else left those designs in the dust (or heavily modified them into something more practical as with the Enfield), the Mosin stayed pretty much the same from 1891 until 1945. Pretty much the only redeeming part of its design compared to contemporaries is the neat anti-rimlock feature they have - itself something that's redundant had the Russians upgraded to a more modern rimless cartridge.

Well fuck yeah user! Thanks
>tfw got a completely unmolested gas block by total random chance
Yeah most everyone has said I'll have to go repro if I want those. I found some tritium repro night sights for $75, and another user suggested to get one of the more expensive airshit carry handles if I couldn't find one anywhere else.

Attached: 20180602_145828.jpg (4160x2340, 3.07M)

ew

>enfield advantages:

aperture enfield sights are better than mauser sights

enfield has double the mag capacity

enfield has a shorter bolt throw which makes it possible to work the action without losing cheek weld and your aim

>mauser advantages:
the mauser uses a rimless cartridge. literally neglible because the enfield is so superior

Attached: C96 stampings.jpg (3000x2000, 1.34M)

Have you got it fixed yet?

Unfortunately no.

Attached: C96 profile.jpg (3000x2000, 2.87M)

As someone who owned 2 watercooled Semi's let me just say to not buy them. They are neat but the neat factor wears off after an hour of playing with it, and you cant put it in a gunsafe and shooting them is miserably boring.

>First year production SVT
$1800+
>Should i buy a nugget?
Do you want one?
On it.

Is that your Greek Mannlicher?

I don't really have any lesser known surp

Attached: IMG_20170516_200838.jpg (5344x1146, 1.57M)

I don't care about the Mosin but the fact that he now shills German and French shit because of his DNA test

Nope, it's much more obscure in a even more hipster chambering.

THIS is my Greek Mannlicher.

Attached: 20180411_103829.jpg (3978x1092, 2.6M)

i like the location of your house

>$1800+
He's asking for the equivalent of $1300, so thats not a bad deal

>equivalent of $1300
This is based on the American market man, if you're a fucking leaf or something I can't tell you a good price because you have different import regs.

For the record though, my Finn SVT from 41 was $1300.

Attached: 20170913_100429.jpg (4031x804, 2.06M)

>tfw it's for sale now
I'm trying to enjoy the view while I can.

Attached: Gew 88-05-35 okay day.jpg (3000x1783, 902K)

Tell me about the auto nugget. Are they actually worth buying at the current prices?

As much as any other full power battle rifle. Garand cost more, so do Ljungmans. Fn49s and Mas 49s are around the same price. Just don't shoot corrosive ammo because they are a pain to clean.

Attached: 20170529_142933.jpg (1921x636, 827K)

Goddamn, all I want is a PPSh build, but this is fucking ridiculous.
I knew I should have gotten one when they were under $1k.

Attached: PPSh.png (1202x508, 419K)

>not building your own from a $180 parts kit
You can even get receivers for around $300 last I checked.

If I had the right equipment and space for it, then yeah I'd give it a shot, but I don't really.
It's not exactly the same as building an AR.
Any place that did have those completed receivers doesn't have them anymore.
All I can find are the receiver blanks or 80% receivers that require machining and welding in order to finish.

Nice rifle.
Anything i should check out before buying one?

Not that I can think of unless whomever is selling one lets you take it apart. In which case check to make sure the gas system is good.

mauser has better primary extraction
mauser has a stronger action overall
mauser has stronger ejection (ive had two enfield ejectors break on me)
mauser has more gas mitigation (negligible nowadays but important during the world wars)
enfield has shorter bolt throw, sure, but cock-on-close is more likely to disrupt aim since youre fighing spring pressure at the end

damn how much and general location.

also throw me a email im looking for a house and dont want to live in fl anymore [email protected]

Do you think senpai will still notice me, Lebel?

Attached: Belebal.jpg (1900x436, 366K)

>see all these people talking about mosins
>go check Gunbroker
>they're all $300+ or 12+ days left
Fucking hell.

Not gonna lie, wife and I both really enjoyed shooting it last time I took it out.

Glad you have a Rosalie for that Lebel.
What exactly were you expecting?

Garbage rods not to cost more than far better built rifles perhaps?

then buy a better built rifle

Pro-tip, milsurp isn't priced on performance. Otherwise they'd all cost the same.

The memes are dead, move on.
There's no saving the prices even if they get more imports because sellers know that us assholes will pay the price for them.

>because sellers know that us assholes will pay the price for them.
>huge flow of surplus somehow comes into the country
>there's mosins/etc lying all over the place in shops
>prices are perpetually frozen at older higher price
>anyone who points this out gets the "I KNOW WHAT I'VE GOT" speech
It's almost as funny as a shop near me that has a $700 Turk Mauser that's been sitting there for nearly a year now. They absolutely refuse to sell it for anything less, and it's nothing special at that (no numbers matching, rust in both the bore and the exterior, old gnarly wood, etc).

This reminds me of my LGS, there's at least 4 M48s that just sit there because they're asking for $600 for each one, even though the bores are sewer pipes and half of them aren't even matching. And they wonder why no one will touch them.

Attached: IMG_3286.png (500x724, 229K)

Even if they start importing some Mosins again, they aren't going to be $50, nor $75, nor $100 even a $150 again, because the importers aren't going to be paying $5 or less per rifle now. Sorry, when they can sell a Mosin in Russia for $400, they aren't going to sell it to some importer for pennies on a dollar.

Bubba no

Too late, I'm looking into turning my part kit into a semi. It will have a hand crank option. I'd rather have something that shoots rather than a dummy gun. I'm guessing the semi parts will cost more than I paid for the parts kit.

yea ok fart porn connoisseur

Not my thing man, I like fatties and ethnic women.
Also, not a Jow Forumsizen.

Mad jelly right now. I haven't convinced myself to jump into heavy weapons. I almost bought a DPM but couldn't justify not having a barrel lined up already.

DPM is shit compared to a DP28

I’m telling you it will suck, I’ve had everything from maxims to DSHKs and they all’s sucked. The only fun semi belts I’ve ever shot are the RPD and M249s
