I've tried holding sideways, not the full on gangsta hold like in the pic. It was stupid.

I've also tried this, and it worked surprisingly well. Not like, use it in a real life situation well, but I was able to put rounds on target pretty effectively as long as I alternated between guns and didn't try to fire both at once.

I own a few decent utilitarian guns as part of my duty as a starch pro2A advocate and libertarian but 99% of the shooting I do is going to be for my own entertainment so why not make it fun? I get more enjoyment out of my 10/22 and levergat than my AR and I take more pride in my abilities with obscure shit anyhow.
I don't discredit being tactically proficient as it IS critical to gun ownership but it's fine to drop the act once in a while. (So long as safety stays involved)

It was a retarded kind of fun, only surpassed later by an Xbox with an online connection and some halo games.

I've held one of my pistols like that for illustration purposes when teaching a class, but I haven't ever fired a weapon improperly.

Are you not a member at a range? Mine is laid back as shit. Yeah there are rules, but that's for everyone's safety. But my range has cookouts and really decent raffles for members.
Of course i shoot my rifles and shit on a friends land most of the time, but hanging out at the range is fun as hell. Assuming your range lets you hang out of you're not shooting of course
