Someone should improve the technology enough to warrant caring about.

They should be refined, then spread throughout the world. Ideally every household should be capable of mass producing functional pieces.

You can make a cheaper and more reliable one with hand tools, a drill press, some sheet metal and plumbing supplies.

The idiots in the media and the political class apparently think that basic metalworking is an arcane art lost to the ages, whereas a 3D printer can be bought by any idiot with $1000 and a gun then manufactured using some files downloaded off the internet. You know, assuming that the print doesn't get screwed up somehow or the thing doesn't just explode on the first shot.

Wouldn't they be better suited firing lower pressure rounds like shotgun shells? It's not like this thing is going to hit anything at 50 yards anyway.

I will be worried when ammos can also be 3D-printed.
