Bought a basic bitch10/22 two weeks ago and I've been thinking about glass bedding it. However there's a lot of discrepancies on other forums regarding the best place to bed the rifle. Logic tells me under the action screw and the first few inches of the barrel towards the receiver. Have any anons bedded their 10/22? Mine has a standard barrel and I want to keep it for aesthetics.
Also since my 10/22 has a polymer barrel band, should I replace that with a metal band?
I would only glass bed it if you are going for a full benchrest setup. I would bed it like this with a pressure pad at the end of the barrel channel with no barrel band.
It improves barrel/action mating with the stock, also improves barrel harmonics- this is true, however improving harmonics is greatly dependant on where it is bedded.
You are welcome here friend. That sounds too loud for a 22. I would say it's possible since there was a concave wall in front of shooter that may have funneled sound of shot backwards, but the muzzle blast looked way too large as well.

Thank you friend! I thought so too. Also it sounded like he cycled a bolt after the shot.
So .223?
Benjamin Johnson
get new sights for it.
Aiden Collins
Clear reflex sights? Or Iron peep sight? Be more specific
Lincoln Murphy
Iron peep sights I have Tech sights TSR-100 on mine.

There is no reason to bed a firearm which has an effective range of less than 50 meters, except as practice or something. You are not going to meaningfully improve a .22 by bedding it.
If you want to accurize a rifle, the barrel should not be in contact with the stock at all. Bed the receiver only. But if you want to accurize a rifle, don't start with a 10/22.

just to warn you that you really cant make a 1022 an amazing gun in either direction. it wont make an amazing bench gun no matter what you do, being semi auto and the barrel attachment system and on top of that a thing weak receiver. it is doomed from the get go for accuracy, full stop. they do make really accurate 1022s, but volquartsen mills their own stainless receiver for them. dont bother to make it a bench gun.
they do make really fun trail and squrill guns tho.
Christopher Ramirez
Effective range to do what? For killing rabbits the effective range is around 120 meters.
Hudson Barnes
>it is doomed from the get go for accuracy, full stop.
Nope. Inside of 50 meters, a stock 10/22 is a tack-driver. You only encounter problems when you start trying to shoot beyond the range which the round was designed for.
Joshua Hill
Would you recommend CZ-455 above 10/22? I live in Europe so basic 10/22 has the price of basic CZ
Gavin Sanchez
>For killing rabbits the effective range is around 120 meters.
Your bullet drop at that point is measured in feet. No thank you. I've shot at things 150+ meters away with a 10/22 and I've concluded it's for retards who think they're showing off.
Why are you shooting at rabbits so far away, anyhow? You can just walk right up and blast them, you know.

I have the 100s as well, I love them

the cz is a great gun, iirc they have cold hammer forged barrels that have some fancy set time for accuracy and consistency. unless you want to spend a bunch of money ricing out the 22lr equivalent of a Honda for negligible gains I would always reccomend the cz.
if the tacks you are using are the size of baseballs, sure. they aren't accurate to my standards. good enough for varmiting out in the field.
Joshua Adams
So would you recommend glass bedding?
Wyatt Turner
not really. not really what the gun was built to do on the outset. they do make fancy 1022s that are very accurate, but a lot of inhouse work is done to them.
if you want to rice it out to a tolerable level I'd suggest just getting a drop in btx trigger and a different stock that is already nice. magpul makes a pretty good one, pay attention to your barrel diameter and taper when ordering. you dont need a solid 1" damater 24" barrel on the gun either, stick with the original barrel until you become a better shot and again that weak thin aluminium receiver doesnt play nice with long heavy barrels.
top advise i can give is just get the btx trigger and dont take it too seriously.
Colton Richardson
what kind of accuracy are you getting now (lead sled or off sandbags)? What Sights are you using? Have you tested multiple types of ammo?
Before you start doing shit figure out where you are and where you want to be.
Dylan Perez
>if the tacks you are using are the size of baseballs, sure
You must be a really shit shot.
Jose Diaz
sell it and make a 10/22 out of %100 aftermarket parts (receive, barrel, and trigger assembly)
