I was wanting to buy my first sniper rifle in either 30-06 or 308 which is better?

Assuming this isn't summer bait,
I'm gonna tell you right now that most pre- built rifles in 30-06 are not intended to fulfill a sniper capacity. They are almost always in sporter profiles that do not handle heat very well (Rapid fire) and sit in cheap stocks but you can build one, buy a custom action from Howa and drop it into a nice "sniper" stock, and put nice glass on it.
30-06 will provide slightly more muzzle velocity, and you will find a slightly easier time using heavier bullets if you hand load. However, you should also consider 6.5 CM if you're not going into magnum territory like 300 WM and just want to poke paper at range.
6.5 creedmoor.
I've played enough Battlfield (tm) to know that
338 is the master race
How far and is it just for plinking? If it’s 500 yards or so just go 223
.30-06 if you handload, .308 if you don't.
What if it was for a human sized animal out to at least 800 yards?
>sniper rifle
No such thing. Back to /v/ you go.
Savage Axis in 6.5 Creedmore
op get a .223. you're obviously too dumb and too much of a pussy to shoot .338 and probably .30-06 too
This but honestly you can reload .308 too. It just makes less sense. I don’t know where you live but if you intend to shoot very long distance I’d go with .300 WIN mag or .30-06. Out east and I’d go .308 Winchester
good for paper shooting at flat trajectories and not as versatile
I'm buying navy seal spec sniper rifle this summer. I hate that it's gonna cost me $13k but it's worth it to have what the best use.
How well does a 16.5” or 14.5” barrel handle at those distances? Does it depend on what ammo and twist I’m using more?
8mm mauser worked for the germans perdy cheap 2
>Don't listen to obvious trolls, be reasonable with yourself and buy .303British
LOL sure ya are, kiddo.
This, ITS JUST A FUCKING RIFLE
>This but honestly you can reload .308 too. It just makes less sense.
I didn't mean you couldn't handload it, I was more trying to make the point that there are more good commercial .308 loads available to a shooter than there are good .30-06 loads, and that .30-06 can be pushed harder by a handloader than .308 can. I load both of them desu
>6.5mm bullets at 2700-3000fps
>not good for hunting
OH SAY CAN YOU SHART
This picture embarrasses me on at least 3 levels
>/ you go
get a 14.5 barrel with 1:11 twist and only shoot 77grain rounds. that'll definitely work well, nogunz newfriend.
