Because they would rather fight to the last Turk, Pole, and Frenchman instead.
they decided on a far more insidious design for destroying Europe this round involving soft power
Germany realized that the US was going to provide protection without spending their own money. It's pretty smart on their part since the Russians would theoretically now have to go through Poland to reach them, hence it's "no longer their problem".
US should force all the NATO countries that haven't reached the 2% goal to pay back all the fees since 1990. They can do it as a "credit" back to the US by buying US military equipment. It's only fair.
because nationalism and patriotism are a big no no
Any german who waves the german flag and sings the national anthem gets arrested and fined for promoting hate speech, god forbid you ever feel proud of your nation. Jokes aside, they really do hammer into your head as a young child about how other's cultures are superior and better than yours, because German history/culture= white supremacy and killing jews. So imagine your whole life growing up equating anything patriotic with a deep sense of shame, and there you have the modern native German. Foreigners on the other hand....well, we all know that story
>Why haven't they rebuilt?
>Post World War 2
Didn't they have one of NATO's largest armies?
>latimes.com
Why bother when U.S. conventional and nuclear forces provide all the additional defenses they need free of charge. We should pull all of our forces out of there and let Fritz and Helga pay their own bills. Oh and in case anyone didn't notice, WWII ended and so did the Cold War, so why are we still there?
Well for one thing Germany was occupied for 50 years
Also, why should we?
We're not out to wage unnecessary wars anymore
Because the US instilled a culture of shame, anti-nationalism and anti-militarism so that we won't start another world war
Because the Cold War is over and Merkel would rather spend money on social stuff than getting functional aircraft.
Both Western and Eastern Germany had very effective and well-funded militaries back in the day. It was only after they re-unified that things went the way it did.
In the same way we indoctrinated Germany to be a bunch of prissy damsels, we indoctrinated ourselves into being the military of the west. Patton was right, but he died before he could stop any of it.
The guy that created that pic can't much older than 14. Even the most basic understanding of politics in Europe is enough to understand just how dumb a comparrison between nazi-Germany and the modern European union is.
stop blaming everything on somebody else.
t. German
Sat in a room with around 40 other people and was the only one who raised his hand when asked by the seminar speaker who actually served. This was two years ago, absolutely no patriotism left in the higher classes of society. Most people I served with were there for the money or were germano-russian or east european. And that was as FschJg, a corps that relied on volunteers.
t. 90's kid who came of age after conscription had already been abolished.
Okay, then what else is the cause? Are you denying those sentiments are the norm?
t. 90's kid currently serving
also conscription was never abolished, read the law.
>Are you denying those sentiments are the norm?
no
>Okay, then what else is the cause?
the dumb guilt complex of many modern Germans, if you're not stupid as fuck it's not hard to see you're not guilty for things that happened 80 years ago. I don't see how Americans have an influence on this.
Reunification and the end of the Cold War? They poured money into the military before that, but reunification took something like 10% of their entire GDP every year, for literal decades. Dragging East Germany into modernity and reestablishing a single cohesive nation was expensive as fuck.

>US should force all the NATO countries that haven't reached the 2% goal to pay back all the fees since 1990
What "fees"? The US isn't spending 3.3% of it's GDP to pretect Europe, you know? The US has a mere 3 combat brigades there. The rest is logistics trail. It's a myth that the US protects Europe. This hasn't been the case since 1990.
>US should force all the NATO countries that haven't reached the 2% goal to pay back all the fees since 1990.
And how would they do that.
>Pay up or else we no longer protect you from russians that aren't coming anyway
Germans like to blame their culture of guilt on WW2. Brits blame colonialism (if they're even allowed to complain) and swedes have literally done nothing worth mentioning in the way of foreign policy for over 200 years. It's almost as if history wasn't actually the reason we're cucked.
Kalergi Plan isn't new little dude.
>Nazi Germany sought to create a new world order centering European politics around itself and usurping the power of dominant European powers like France and Britain
vs
>the European union seeks to create a new world order centering European politics around itself and usurping the power of dominant European powers like France and Britain
help me out here im 12
The difference between germany being one of many european states vs the union being composed of almost all european states apparently went past you.
One: because military is evil fascists.
Two: Why should they when they have America to protect them?

And here I though Germany had a massively disproportionate hold over the EU, do go on my kid
>the US doesn't have its entire army In Europe so therefore if the Russians invade they will just sit it out and let their European allies get their shit pushed in
he's not wrong we don't even do exerciser reforger anymore only bright star in egypt. reforger always assumed much of Europe would be over run before we could get enough forces in theater to push them back. even now a Russian push would likely see Germany reduced to a non state again. not having hard power of your own is a bad idea, but Germans being autistic and with no self awareness are unable to notice their place in the world order
>the Russians don't invade even though the Americans left
fix'd
NATO doesnt do Exercise Reforger anymore because the Warsaw Pact no longer exists. The US shouldn't have to be responsible for Germany's lack of an army
>The US shouldn't have to be responsible for Germany's lack of an army
this is true. however Germans are eternally retarded.
Even now while under the American umbrella they claim we are bad/evil and that France should become their army instead.
Honestly the only solution to the German problem is to break it apart into several separate nations again every major conflict of the late 19th, and 20th centuries can be traced to a unified Germany.
>almost all european states
None of those representatives are elected, and on top of that the EU has consistently pushed new continent wide bullshit laws that nobody wants for decades, and surprise surprise the voter base of any given country in the union has no power to do anything about it. So you're right, it isn't on par with Nazi Germany, it's worse.
The strongest economy among a bunch of small and ailing ones is dominating the continent, who'd have thought. That's not because of the EU though. (In fact, germans have less votes per capita the way the EU institutions are set up... their influence is all on the national government scale.)
Every major conflict post WW2 can be traced to america.
what your saying in effect however is that Germany is defacto using the EU to pursue it's own national desire that is little different than that for 70 years ago.
I wasn't aware that america caused all the wars in Africa, the Middle East and Europe in the listed centuries. As far as I'm aware they began due to Germany of the threat of the new existence of Germany to the old colonial powers of Britain and France. please quantify.
The other way round. The rest of europe tried to set up the EU to reign in the natural dominance of germany after the reunification. It just happens that due to plain incompetence of states like greece and italy, the relevant field of influence is not political but economic - which remains firmly in national hands.
>Any german who waves the german flag and sings the national anthem gets arrested and fined for promoting hate speech
BULLSHIT
It seems you are getting hung up on lofty designs and intentions instead of focusing on the reality of how the tool works even though you acknowledge its effective function in reallity.
I wouldn't be surprised if they did
youtube.com
Neither would I, but it's still not illegal.
Germans are cucked alright, but they still hold freedom of speech and the likes a little higher than the bongs.
All the good germans moved to the US in the 70's
>It seems you are getting hung up on lofty designs
No, you're missing the simple point he was trying to get across. Germany will always dominate the European continent, the attempt to limit that has failed. Italy being incompetent isn't because of Germany but because of, you know, Italian incompetence.
The EU is essentially what the US would have been had the south won the civil war: a confederation instead of the federation where most of the power lies with the member states and not the union. Member states can do whatever they want and the EU can do fuck all about it, as evidenced once again right fucking now by Eastern European states blocking any attempt of establishing an EU-wide migrant redistribution mechanism.
Its the same problems like in ww2 military equipment not developed for the needs of the soldiers but for the profit of the industry, retarded leadership who are actually only yesmen for the politics, also our politicians are very russia friendly ( east german chancellor ) and lots of east germans are in fact the 5th column of the russians
