Guns and Ammo

Anyone want an old Guns and Ammo dump thread? Just got gave several years of 1960s to 70s issues in binders. Lots of great ads and articles from the likes of Elmer Keith and more.

Holy flying fuck.

Why are they all so cheap

Is this really what it was like back in the 70s?
God damn.

Its like reading the ikd mags of high times where they were talking about pounds of pot being only a couple hundred bucks.

The magic of inflation and a large surplus of guns.

They were properly worried. As this eventually passed as the 1968 Gun control act

I mean, we have more ar15s than ever today and theyre literally 8x more expensive.

Which lead to the modern FFL system we have today.

Most are a lot more than 8x more expensive now. Even a modern 1911 of any reasonable quality is a lot more expensive after accounting for inflation.

Surplus, dude.
Compare Mosin Nagants from 10 years ago to Nuggets today. Supply and demand.
Back in the 60s and 70s WW2 era American and German surplus were both widely available. That just isn't the case anymore for obvious reasons.
Pic rel. A vintage demotivational.

That's why I specifically pointed out the one gun on those that's still made. There's a 1911 for $54.95. That's $436.85 in 2018 dollars. I don't think you can find a non-handgrenade 1911 for that cheap these days.

NO GRANDPA BUBBA NO

I believe the 1911 is surplus. They say it's in "as new" condition, which suggests to me that they're probably unissued government contract guns.
Also this was before the FFL system existed, so that probably reduced costs for the retailer slightly.

Looks like someone saw some good deals
