It gets worse, the first hole is all the way through penetrating into the breach. The next three, (two of which which have been welded shut by bubba jr) penetrate into the chamber.
Bubba got what he deserved when he fired it. Brass split and the gasses blew the scope off the rifle shattering it in the process and blowing glass shards into his face. Unfortunatley the fucking retard was wearing saftey glasses and didnt lose his eyes.
Im not sure how im going to resurrect it but she will fire again. I swear it.

If the brass split you have more problems than those holes.
Get some go/no-go gauges first
Those holes aren't anywhere near the barrel, if brass is splitting in the chamber(inside the barrel) something greater is going on

Still get a go/no go set. I wouldn't believe he tapped through that much steel on the first hole, but either way if so weld it with a good stick. Pressure peaks at the throat in the barrel at least, not at the base of the brass

It's possible, but highly doubtful. Do a "plunk" test by dropping an 8x57 in the chamber by hand and see if there's too much depth or wiggling room. A little wiggle is okay, but depth is best determined by gauges
