I just got my hunting license in Germany and are allowed 2 handguns (unlimited shotguns/rifles) for self defense and finishing off wounded animals from up close. I already decided on a generic 9mm pistol like a Glock for gun number one, but what should I get as a second gun to complement it?
A handgun in Germany is defined as any weapon that is NOT longer than 60cm (24") overall / 30cm (12") barrel
In a defensive scenario, boring and reliable is good though. Plus got the round count, weight and ergonomics over the p1. The p1 would be a decent second gun, or even a p38 if those are available in Germany
Liam Rodriguez
I'd say the P30L, but a USP is fine too.
Jayden Ramirez
>boring
Kind of the point. I want the Glock as a tool that simply works: pull trigger, get bang. The second more for fancy and fucking around on the range. Will look into the P1 anyway, though.
Isaiah Davis
>for self defense Wrong. Saying that, ever, is one easy way to get your permits revoked. You only have it to finish off animals.
Luke Gomez
Self defense against animals, of course. Charging boars and the like.
Luke Richardson
I would get a 9mm (Px4 or P22x I guess) and a .357 revolver
I would say the same if I had the chance to have a variety of guns (I own a Beretta for boring purposes): but burning a slot for a Glock for theoretical "defensive scenarios" would be a tad too much for me, but I legit enjoy more collecting than theoretical defense.
Glocks are good for your case, though. Get a revolver as a second one, they are fun as hell.
I second this. but ive always wanted a c96 so I may be biased. since some anons are suggesting .357 magnum find somebody who will make a c96 in .357 magnum. the ultimate autoloader.
David Thomas
Use the glorious craftsmanship of your nation. Are P38s even allowed because of the tiny swastika on the markings?
To those recommending revolvers: Is the Chiappa Rhino any good? I never liked the look of regular revolvers.
Ethan Reyes
If you want to be prepared for what's to come, get a second glock. A 19 and a 17 is a good combo. If you want to actually hunt, get a nice .357 revolver, the extra energy really helps.
Brandon Young
I think it is okay on weapons, since you can't just easily un-mark steel and there is a historical value to it after all. I wouldn't go around showing it off to everyone and their mother though.
Asher Gomez
Never shot one, sadly, but .357 revolvers ARE great for fun shooting. It's a good recommendation. If you don't like the look though....
Two Glocks would be a tad too much. A man should have fun and beauty in his collection.
Owen Brooks
It's a meme gun that exists solely for novelty. And I love it.
Colton Ramirez
That's not what people generally mean when they say self defense.
Nathan Nelson
One new, efficient and reliable gun. One oldtimer to honor the past.

Gavin Myers
Why would he need two Glocks for "what's to come"?
Caleb Johnson
>For self-defence
Don't say that publicly or you will get raped in the courtroom should it come to that.

Different user here, but animals are quickly filling up OP's country, what's coming is going to be ugly

And why does that require two Glocks?
Samuel Walker
I think the poster was stressing utility over meme guns, personally I'm a big believer of having meme guns for when things kick off.
James Hall
What are the gun clubs in Germany like for a foreign visitor? Are they worth seeing for novelty value? I heard you'll pay $100+ to fire a few shots out of a .22 at some of the outdoor ranges.
>Don't say that publicly or you will get raped in the courtroom should it come to that. Amerifat here, but isn't deadly self-defense legal in Germany?
Jackson Gray
To go mall ninja mode I guess? One for the waist and the other for the ankle
Carson Cooper
I mean, sure, have a combat-oriented handgun of good utility. But then just have spare parts for it and fill the other role with something fun.
Ryan Reyes
Gay.

But I saw it on TV, it must be cool

(Deadly) self defense CAN BE legal but only if YOU can prove that said self defence was justified. Our self defense laws suck and you can get yourself in a world of hurt if you make statements like that.
Why? Because owning a firearm for the purpose of self defence is illegal in Germany and stating that you even intend to use your firearm in that capacity can make you an "unreliable person" (=license revoked).
TL;DR: You just happened to clean your rifle while a robber broke into your house, you feared for your life and made a shock decision not to run out of your house and call the police but instead to shoot the attacker.
Andrew Murphy
Thanks for the explanation! That does sound like it sucks.
