Red Pill Me On The New .450 Scout

ruger.com/news/2018-05-31.html

Ruger just released the Gunsite Scout Rifle chambered in .450 Bushmaster. Is there any practical purpose for this? Is it good for SHTF?

> is it good for SHTF?

Well it’s in a meme caliber so no

>Is there any practical purpose for this

mastering bush

How does .450 behave compared to 5.56 or .308? Is it better for medium range or long range?

Defense against dangerous game.

Are scout rifles for boomers? I don't want to be laughed at at the range.

>>carcano
>>bad execution
what was bad was trying to switch their ammunition to 7.35 in the middle of a fucking war, otherwise the carbine did its job

Holy fuck, I've wanted something like this for so long. Would have prefered .458 socom but fuck, I might actually buy this.

What kind of dangerous game? Yeti, Skin Walker, Grizzly Bear?

It's not the rifle that will get the laughs

.450 Bushmaster is considered suitable for hunting all North American game so it should work for killing bears, etc., in a defensive situation as well.

What makes you want one? I think they're neat but I'm not sure. I think I would rather want a precision rifle or bergara

Who fucking cares what people think. If you want it, buy it. Use it and fuck around with it. I hate going to ranges because it's so limited in what you can do.
>face only one direction
>designated target area
>designated bag area
>designated ammo area
>noises are louder
>fuckers next to me shooting fucking up my groove
>can't magdump
>range jew rules

Nigger just take a drive and go inna woods or inna desert.
>inb4 too hot to go to the desertt
That's why you wake up at 5 and head out the door at 5. Early morning operating before it gets hot. Last time I went my mosin was sweating cosmoline after 60 shots. Literally getting all over the hand guard.

It's a meme reason but I just love the idea of a massive bullet from a short gun with a nasty brake, especially something manually operated. Apparently i'm a retard and ruger has had .450 scouts out for about a year.

I wouldnt say 'just' but if you do get the 450, at least the sexy walnut one.

450 bushmaster has always been the shittiest of the 3 thumpers (450 bushmaster, 50 beowulf, and 458 socom)

Bullet selection is shit compared to 458 socom.

Don't forget .499 LWR (for those behind the lines in California where you can't own .50 cals).

As someone who owns a thumper, this is stupid.
One of the meme calibers in a bolt action is retarded. Their only purpose is to have a substantial round in a semi auto AR platform.
Just get a real .45-70 or .338 lapua.

>mfw I ordered several .499LWR mags from pri (work great for 458socom) on closeout and some motherfucking spic kids stole the ups delivery off my front porch

the thumpers LITERALLY have a use in states such as my own. They require 1000 fl/lb at 100yds for deer. The only way to get there subsonically is with 500gr+ projectiles. 458 SOCOM FTW.

meme caliber =/= no shtf

That's what wax is for

Yeah, Any non-5.56/308/7.62x39 is absolute crap for shtf, unless you're stockpiling at least a couple thousand rounds of your boutique caliber.

Looks like a cannon.

22 lr

It's a very close range cartridge user, it will drop like a rainbow past 300 yards. So very good for charging boar, bears, etc.

sure, if you don't mind being killed by your assailant as they slowly die after ripping your throat out.

I think that it would be neat with subsonics as and a suppressor.

It's for durr hunting in states with stupid caliber restrictions, for example the MI shotgun zone which is the lower half of the LP.
>shotguns only
>except straight walled cartridges
>with a case length of 1.8 inches or less
> .450 case length is 1.7 inches
If you want a rifle for durr season it's a good choice

Also note that 45-70 has a case length longer than 1.8 inches

I really, really wish it were .458. Doubt ruger would ever be assed to do that though.

why is this a thing?

I use a savage 11 scout for deer in PA. Most of our deer are taken at less that 100 yards but having the option to take a longer shot if needed is nice. I usually just keep my scope on 2x.

Jesus fucking Christ.
Here's Georgia's deer hunting regulation:
>rifles>.22 cal center fire or larger- must use an expanding bullet.
Plus there's shotgun, archery and black powder.

.450 bushmaster is basically a shoe-in for states where shotguns are normally used for deer hunting, and regular bottle neck rifle cartridges are outlawed. It's as straight wall case, so it falls under the same regulations for revolvers for many states, meaning you can use (short range) rifle for hunting durrs.

Due to high weight, low velocity, it's also bound to be pretty decent at plowing through brush.

Yeah but the south has little baby deer.
