Good centerfire non-AR semi auto rifles

I'm looking for recommendations for my first semi auto, centerfire rifle. I've learned proper rifle marksmanship skills on my Cricket and 10/22 and want to upgrade. I specifically want to keep it under $600 and stay away from the AR-15 platform because I want to be able to buy an aftermarket collapsible stock (fuck buffertubes).
>List so far
Kel Tec SU-16
Remington 7400
Winchester 100

Note: don't suggest the SKS because they're banned by name in my state

Obvious attempt at mini 14 thread. Nobody cares about your favorite gun, kid.

if they'd only made the SU16 receiver out of aluminum, it'd be the best AR on the market

I shit you not, I didn't know mini 14s came that cheap so that's news to me. Could you offer any feedback at my current list though if you have any personal experience with those rifles?

I've heard a lot of criticism because they're made out of a lot of polymers, what kind of impact does that have on the reliability of the weapons system?

Fuck you and fuck aluminum

Actually I just learned its a polyshit rifle. Excuse my retardation.
Polymer is just shit. Its brittle, it can break, and small important things tent to snap in inconvenient places on polymer that cant be replaced.

Others will tell you polymer is fine, but its really not.

But what the fuck op, why cant you just get an AR like a normal nigger?

polymer can be fine, but i've heard stories about SU16s not living long happy lives.
sometimes the bolt carrier group might impact the rear of the receiver or perhaps the leverage of the stock is too much
in either case, it seems that some crack there at the back.

this makes me sad cause i know they're good guns ;_;

Part of me hates the AR just because of how popular it is honestly, I've shot AR's and find them boring. I feel like 90% of the people who own them just play legos with their stupid quad rails and never shoot them.

maybe a cetme?
