It's not an import, but there are more than a few ok reviews. It doesn't have the ESS barrel that the Clearview/Classic AMD65s have despite the misinformation spread around. I believe they have a Green Mountain barrel, iirc.
I'm not sure you're going to be able to fit chink furniture to it without permanent modification, but that could be incorrect as I have no experience with the 63.
I'd say grab it and fuck around with it, if you can get it at a reasonable price.

You may need to double check what you ordered, I think they also had a separate listing that had handguards only.

Is the SLR 107R good to go?

Any bakelite grip will fit a Yugo, but you'll just need a different grip screw(the yugo screw's head is too large for a standard bake grip). I had one on my AB2 for a little while, until I found the "peg" bakelite too small for my preference.

Appreciation for the tips and help. This is my first AK so I only knew to grab a new recoil spring and the handguards/pistol grip set. I also got a retainer plate thing from brownells I heard is easy to use and better then the regular crook? I just wanna make sure my gun is good and doesn’t beat itself to death or knock rivets loose.

Your rifle is fine. imo the recoil spring issue is over stated, but I only have an OPAP and AB2 which both have a proper spring, so take that with a grain of salt.
If you start having FTE(ject) though you might consider it into the reason.
Although with GT I doubt it''ll be an issue.
Enjoy your DF and get some other mags (and some different muzzle devices you can play with)

And a different nut, as that's what sets the angle and yugos don't have a regular AKM grip

The Yugo grip "nut" is riveted into the receiver. Angle is irrelevant. Now if you wanted to put a Yugo grip on a regular AKM, you'll need a longer grip screw, and the external "grip nut" on yugos is significantly lower thus needing a shorter screw.

The So called "Serb" mags are hit or miss, so don't expect the best. Unless you get actual surplus mags, there's almost always an issue of "tolerance stacking" and they'll need fitting of some sort.
Look at Arms Of America or What-a-Country, for surplus mags. (WaC has Hungarians for like $15 and Polish for $13.)

It's a "hunting" round that is notorious for it's fragmentation. Pay no attention to the Tulammo meme, as the 8m3 is made by the same company (Ulyanovsk) that made the stuff that was imported 20+ years ago.

The trunnions are still shit. And a new bolt wont be properly headspaced.

That would turn the rifle from a possible bomb, into a definite bomb. It wouldn't be headspaced, as if that wasn't a problem enough.

Whats the consensus on the AIMS 74 rifles? I know they're Romanian parts kits but it seems like some important parts are american made and I don't know how I feel about that. I want a 74 because I love my 47 so much but they're getting really hard to find especially sub 1000. All opinions would be nice.

I’ve spoken to JDI’s owner on the phone though and you can still get your 550. You just have to buy the 550 upper conversion kit they have on their website. Unfortunately, the kit doesn't come with a lower, bolt, charging handle, or stock with spring and pin. But if you buy those separately, you are only about $1500 in the hole on top of the $1600 you spent in the upper.

After finally getting to play with a Saiga 5.45 rifle recently, you should get a 74 type. Recoil was at least half, and I thought it would be about equal.

Everything I've heard is that 5.45 is a sick cartridge that can cause some tumbling havoc and is really accurate so it will be my next gun but they're hard to find besides these Romanian rebuilds and some arsenals here and there but those are around 1500
