Depends, are those your real stats? When was the last time you had someone time you on all that shit?

Can any 19Ks here give me the real deal about this MOS

Would you recommend it

Nope.
And why would you do this over something that lets you actually do your job instead of sitting in a tank/tent hating that youre bored as fuck.

I just like tanks and everything about them

Attached: ksmjIY3.jpg (1600x900, 818K)

Anyone here actually get less Jow Forums once they joined? I don't want to lose my gains.

Attached: tfw no cripple gym gf.webm (640x640, 2.28M)

I can do mid 80's pushups in one shot consistently, just whether it's 82 or 89 is where it varies.

Same with situps in the 90s

I do pushups and situps throughout the week

Last 2 mile run was 13:08, so ill have to retest that to better accuracy

What branch are you joining?

Okay then go for it. Just dont sign for more than 4 years.

I went from power lifter bulky body to string bean looking motherfucker after basic.

But did you do all those push ups and sit ups within 2 minutes?

And ya, get timed again.

But if your stats hold up, go for it man, youre good to go. Just make sure you can do at least 15 pull ups before you ship out.

If you wanna get good at shooting using military form before you leave, do an appleseed. If you wanna do good at land nav, go do a local search and rescue land nav course.

>What branch are you joining?
Navy. I figure if I'm be having tons of gay sex I really want to be as yoked as possible.

Is there actually a rivalry between 11B infantrymen and 19D cavalry scouts? What are the differences between them that make them shit on each other

Attached: 1000w_q95.jpg (1000x667, 220K)

>But did you do all those push ups and sit ups within 2 minutes?

Yeah, i feel like going over 2 minutes without stopping would be harder

>Just make sure you can do at least 15 pull ups before you ship out.

i can do about 12, 13 isnt pretty

I'm just curious if I'm too old, 29 and going in 11B ?

Then your gains should be relatively ok compared to if you went in the army or Marines. You're going to lose some regardless because you can't do your routine for ~8 weeks, but they come right back once you start going to the gym afterwards.

No way around it

Youd be more suited for 18x imo but its more of a gamble.
Diff user btw

Nobody except the junior enlisted actually care.
Scouts scout, infantry assault. Sometimes we do each others' job when the situation requires it, but anyone who actually knows the score appreciates the skills their counterparts bring to the combined arms fight.
Healthy banter exists, but hell, you're gonna find that between different healthcare nerds.

thx mang

So heres where the whole 19D are essentially infantry and dont do their job thing came from. Cav units, have either 11A or 19A commanders. So when a 11A commander takes over, they have no fucking clue how to utilize 19D and just use them as infantry.

19D are essentially a jack of all trades job. They cross train alot with commo, medics, mechanics, etc. And its real fucking cool when they get a 19A commander and get to do maneuvers with armor and close range recon. IMO 19D are better trained on the vehicles, radios, and weapons than 11B. But 11B is better trained in squad and platoon tactics.

Nah bro not too old. If my buddy could go 18x in his mid 30s and continue to do so in his late 40s, you should be fine. Just take care of your body man, do some yoga and eat smart.

Not him but I hear there's a healthy rivalry between 19D and 19K. Is that true?

Ya, since in armor units they work together and do maneuvers together.

I will say, for some reason earlier this year this one user kept posting for months about how 19K do infantry roles now, but he was full of shit.

>Youd be more suited for 18x imo but its more of a gamble.

I've considered it but the washout has been a very nagging thought

not him,

nothing wrong with going ranger

Ranger sounds awesome to me, 18x seems more military career

>this one user kept posting for months about how 19K do infantry roles now, but he was full of shit.
Alright I'm glad to hear that lol, I constantly hear about tankers that get out of OSUT and then never touch a tank for the rest of their enlistment. Not sure how true that is though

Nah, both are good for long term careers, and for future shit.

They are just 2 very different jobs.

Can I enlist on the condition I get to serve along this qt?

Attached: 1522645422734.jpg (1080x1080, 143K)

He got kicked out fyi.

SPC ketchum is ETSing shortly. He'll (because he still qualifies as male under the DoD's transition policy) separate with an honorable discharge with full benefits: GI bill, VA medical care for service related stuff, ect. Take that as you will

He did 3 years, so why not? Hes a degenerate trap, but at least he passed osut and made it to E4. Thats more than most dudes.

Be sure to get it in your contract and it should be good to go.

I'm looking into Air Force right now for computer stuff(associates in computer science), but the Navy's and Army's cyber looks better. Anyone in one and wished they'd gone a different way? I'm leaning towards seeing an army recruiter instead of my AF recruiter.

idk how usaf is because they do a lot of their own stuff or i dont work where they work with others. army and navy are of separate mindsets in computerland atm but i think the navy is better overall for career and enjoyment.
either move is a good move if you're into it all.

The 18x washout doesnt break down how you think. The vast majority of drops drop before sfas even starts cause its retarded cod kids. When you look at the drop % of 18xs actually in sfas its a better % the standard army guys.

AF
>pick a job area, wait the longest time, might not get the exact computer job you want

Navy
>Profession and skill based advancements, pick job, get the job area, then get assigned a specialty job area that you may or may not like but relatively simple to pick. Getting sent to extra trainings are competitive.

Army
>pick exact job, get exact job, not exactly the most professional work force, lots of funding to send you to extra schools and trainings.

>be me
>need fillings
>get fillings
>one is deep af and tooth is highly reccomend for root canal
>have another tooth that probably needs one
>am poor so can only afford one.

Would it be possible to still join? And get one of the root canals done in basic?

It wont be done in basic. Its done at AIT. But apparently navy does theirs in boot.

So let’s say it abscesses or something? I just need to suck it up until AIT?

if you pick CTN you get CTN, however when you're enlisting the navy is dumb and will say you HAVE to pick a job at MEPS and if CTN doesn't come up (or IT w/e you're after) they'll jsut act like you missed out. it's really slimy but they're full of shit. CTN atm is the sexiest "cyber" job in the navy.

usaf it's hardest to get into as i understand it

army is easy enough to do and you say "i wanna be X" and they get you if you qualify. i think the army will not excel in cyber like the usaf or navy but that's just like, my opinion, man.

Thats literally the only way.

But they might just send you to dental during if its an emergency, but then if youre on bed rest or profile for too long they will restart your ass.

Also, as far as i remember, when I got to reception at basic, they checked eyesight, did a dental xray, and hearing. So idk if they catch the problem on the xray they might say no go and send you home. IDK for sure.

Crypto is cool af.

ctn isnt really crypto though lets be real

>bed rest.

I don’t think I’ll need bed rest. When I had my wisdom teeth out I was fine the same day. Sore, but I was back to work the next day.

What will happen to me if I tell a chaplain/mental health that I am suicidal? The military is really all i have but I joined at 18 and feel like I wasn't ready mentally yet.

you dont get a say in the matter.

?

how is it

Its the defining crypto job. How isnt it friend? Or what would you call it?

Active GM2 here. Ill be here for a while if anyone has any questions about the coast guard. Boot camp, rates, the experience etc.

So do you just refuse to pick one then and wait?

And is general consensus that Navy is the way to go for Cyber?

You want out?

cryptography
n. The process or skill of communicating in or deciphering secret writings or ciphers.
n. Secret writing.
It's mostly analytical work and computer knowledge, most don't know shit about crypto or encryption outside of basics. CTR and CTM are more crypto than CTN.

idk desu, i think technically that's an option but recruiters HATE it.

when did you make 2nd?
I SWEAR TO GAWD IF IT WAS IN THE

LAST SERVICE WIDE

also where u at?

So what do CTNs do in your view?

No i made 2nd last year.
Portsmouth

It's not REALLY crypto but it sure as fuck isn't not-crypto either

no what do they do in your view lol you sound like someone goin "hehe crypto amirite? woo wee it's great. hehe so what do YOU think they do? hahaha"

How are the shipboard conditions? Here that the new ships you guys are getting are much better in the department.
ME or GM if I want to look at federal law enforcement afterwards? Seems like ME is 100% the way to go even though I will just be checking lifejackets.
Also did you have a degree when you enlisted? Did any of the other recruits in boot camp ahve one?

I dont necessarily want to get separated,I just want a fix for the problems I've been holding in for so long and most chaplains seem like pretty good people who can help me out.

fugg, I cant remember your name

What do newly commissioned officers do?

Forgot to hit reply

another coast guard GM here
>Seems like ME is 100% the way to go even though I will just be checking lifejackets.
about half of MEs are operators, and half check life jackets and do training

>Also did you have a degree when you enlisted?
no

>Did any of the other recruits in boot camp ahve one?
yes

the new ships have better living conditions, and unlike the old boats, you dont have to live in a hazardous environment, did you have the message about asbestos added to your medical record?

Well they temporarily closed the ME A-school list so good luck. Wouldve been a 3 year wait anyway. Shipboard conditions are okay to say the most. Port calls are nice. If you want to go law enforcement route you could go BM or GM. Get boarding team member qualified, sea time looks good too.
I had a degree prior to boot camp, over all in my boot company there were quite a few 21+ people. Seemed as if the average maturity was higher.

>CTM

>Perform hardware and software isolation and repair of

equipment and related systems using complex test and
analysis equipment, diagnostic software, hand tools and
technical publications;

So they use printers?

Oh yeah, my first unit out of A-school was a fucking 210. I already know i have cancer.

Um i have no clue what that means. I was legit asking what do ctns do then.

You out of portsmouth?

nice, that 378 life was just as bad

nah, but i might go there next rotation, I went there a few times but was never stationed there

its a small world

figured you were ctns are cyber analysts. similar to 17C/35Q.
they go through a bunch of data and find what matters, but that's a simple rundown. it can be pretty easy or pretty complicated depending on a lot of things. great if you're a computer nerd.

Rate? Pretty comfy here desu area is nice

GM

They’re really getting the most out of these old girls.

appreciate the feedback

yeah, but should I WMSL or FRC?

Maybe ill see you around, counting bullets and shit

when do you rotate?

FRC 100%. Good luck though, theyre some of the most sought after units.

Not him, but you think portsmouth is nice? Come on over to yorktown and live in williamsburg, fuggin nice over here.

June 2020. Unless i make first ;))

How thorough are the TS clearances? Do they really dig deep into your life? I see on reddit that they'll ask your contacts for more contacts and so forth for like a year. If so then that's gonna hurt cause I have done some dumbass shit and friends from highschool are not the brightest bunch. I also can't think of 20 refrences that are decent people. A lot of people I k ew back in highschool are still stoners and druggies and do not wamt them even making eye contact with an investigator. Anyway around this dilemma?

>tfw puerto rico FRC billets are available

yeah, but those deers tho

Attached: 1520387902093.jpg (446x484, 99K)

>I have done some dumbass shit
what do you mean

I like the tidewater area, i live in norfolk by the waterside district so thats nice as well. Yorktown is very nice, im a big civil war buff so im always around seeing the sites. Colonial Williamsburg, ft monroe etc...

you coastie?

Go for it man, easyyyy sea time

Check the last few megs, I explained this shit real good.

>350F/GS11 security manager

They legally can only contact your references you list, your neighbors of current residence, and current school.

If the investigator asks your contacts for more contacts, just have them say no thanks. Its that simple. Investigators dont force anyone to do anything.

y tho?

>i just want that NTNO

Attached: fluf8.jpg (595x842, 300K)

At least they aint california deer.

At least that area is nice now. I occasionally go to that grilled cheese place and get me one of them hangovers, so fuckin good.

Fort monroe is awesome, my gf used to live there when her dad was stationed there back in the 90s. Have you been to that brewery right outside of fort monroe?

Nah bro, civy now, prior army, i work at not camp peary.

>If the investigator asks your contacts for more contacts, just have them say no thanks
That won't come off as sketchy?

Why would it? A stranger asking for contact info of your friends over the phone?

Drugs. Just spice and weed.

I heard a rumor that muhreens were catching deer and putting safety reflective belts on them

Thats service wide, and every base my friend.

Rumor is if you get a glow belt over a deer, you dont gotta do pt.

what is your favorite anime?

A question to people that actually served: is it true that often the person that gets selected as the automatic rifleman is the squad's bottom bitch?
