yes

It's because of the limitations of computers at the time. We can make the aircraft nice and smooth now because we have way better computers. Before that, if you wanted stealth you had to make it angular which also means its unstable as fuck aerodynamically.

Without the flight computers making constant corrections, it would be pretty much impossible to fly.

Posting this anyways although the first maiden flight was in '69, there has been several variations over time and it made it's peak in service with the D.R.A, and Soviet airforce during the fight against the CIAnigger backed mujihads.

lol that thing is so god damn slow and it can't even hover properly.

It was designed by illiterate slavs (basically niggers) who thought that it would be a good idea to put a bayonet on the pitot tube.

There is a reason the ruskies replaced it.

kind of like how the serbs AA was SEAD swallowing?

This Mi-24 along with another is hangared 45 min away, and flies pretty regularly.
I think there are only less than 5 flying in the US.

neat. howd it get from russia to the US?

I'm going off memory, so some details might be off.
This dude went over to Bulgaria in the early 2000s, bought 4 hinds (3 airworthy 1 for spare parts) , 3 Mi 2s, and all with multiple spare engines for all aircraft. Paid more in shipping than what he had paid for all of the aircraft combined.
He also picked up a bunch of other stuff including a couple L29s, mig 21, and a mig 23. It was the only airworthy mig 23 in the US, until he sold it to the US AF, who paid a stupid amount of money for it.

On the back of a low flatbed tractor trailer, one of the airworthy Hinds smacked a bridge in transit somewhere in south Texas, turning it into a parts hind.

The hangar doors are open on weekdays, usually you just walk in and find a bunch eastern European guys working on the aircraft. They don't speak a lick of English, and just nod and say "yes" when you talk to them.

Just Google cold war air museum.
