When I was a kid and my dad would take me shooting I'd have a little bolt action .22 and he'd pop off with his Mosin. He'd line the empty cases up on a table downrange and I'd shoot the bottoms so they'd whirr off really fast and make a cool noise. I loved the feeling when I hit one from a long distance and the instant feedback of my dad's approval grunt and the case zooming off into the distance. I'll never capture that feeling again.

I'm a bit of an oldfag. I remember a very bleak time when I thought that the sunset clause wouldn't stop the Clinton assault weapons ban from being law forever. Then I remember pic related. I remember how TIME...those anti-fun dicks, figured out that they had lost. And I eventually realized that they will continue to lose. Guns are an archaic technology, extremely simplistic in design. Rifled barrels are the last hurdle. We can mill a reciever in a garage, and eventually sintering (I think, I'm not an engineer) will handle most of the smaller parts. But creating rifling in a barrel is still for the big boys.

And once the jack boots realize they can't stop manufacture of the rest, they'll focus on restricting those unless we get that figured out as well.

Heh... its funny, I had just turned 18 when the federal AWB expired. I wasn't all that into guns yet back then. I remember the liberal freak out over the ban expiring, and being curious about what the big deal was, and went did my own research.

And of course I realized these were just semi-auto rifles, not machine guns. I became annoyed at these people basically lying to me to try and get me on their side.

Then I did more research, and came across that Violence Policy Center memo from the 80s where they literally admit that their plan is to take advantage of the general publics ignorance on this subject, run with people's mistaken assumption that these are machine guns, and use that ignorance to push the assault weapons ban. That REALLY pissed me off.

I went from being largely apathetic on guns to full SHALL in the space of a few hours of reading. And it wasn't from reading NRA talking points or some shit, it was reading the gun control movement's propaganda that did it.

I like it when people share their guns and everyone just gets along. "Them" going town by town implies that there is a unified force targeting smaller enclaves and pushing policy there with the inevitable end result of changing policy country wide. The opposite is happening. Less and less can be achieved for gun restrictions at even the state level, much less the country. It's literally just anti-gunners in sheltered/liberal bubbles taking what they can get. In the 20th century, the same kinds of people were achieving back to back victories at the federal level. Arbitrary local laws have always existed and probably always will. The upside though is that these laws are rarely anywhere near as effective as federal laws. They are generally less enforced and less enforceable. Some of the anti-gun "victories" as of late are things like the Boulder, CO and Deerfield, IL assault weapons bans. These are more similar to the ban on dancing in Elmore City than anything else. Over time, people will see that it is unenforceable.
