There's even stocks for M1 Carbines and Mini-14s with the AK/MP40 style underfolder.

They're just kind of shit, hence they're not that popular.

It compacts well, but the cheekweld is poor and the thing gets wobbly like jello with some use.

Cheek weld never bothered me, and the stock holds up pretty well. Some people paracord them but I put an extra power recoil spring in when it was new and never noticed any slap.

Wire stocks aren't great to shoulder, but they are aesthetic as all fuck. If I were to get an AK that would primarily be a decorative wallhanger, it'd be like a Draco with a Romanian wire stock.

AR15 stocks wouldn't look too great on most kinds of AKs, but if you have one that matches in color with the rest of the furniture, it doesn't look TOO bad, and if you have long arms, the longer stock may make the rifle a lot more comfortable to handle than the relatively short Warsaw Pact length stock.

Well, there are some modified AR15 designs where you can have a stock that folds, as it doesn't use the space in the buffer.
You'll get more recoil, generally, and less precision, but it'll work, so yes, you could design an underfolding stock for one of those.

Durability, they're not much cheaper than a romy and being unreliable and troublesome is the deal with them, occasionally there's one that is actually pretty good but unless you absolutely want a drum for whatever reason just pony up a little more for a romanian or Chinese.
