is it a meme?
Is it a meme?
No, it's a shitpost.
I mean it's probably a good scatter gat but it's price tag is a meme.
definitely a meme. but looks fun as fuck desu
>sbv
What
Meme means nothing anymore, so sure, why not?
I'm gonna buy one
a "firearm" by NFA standards, basically. hard to explain in one post, look it up.
Wow, I didn't know Origin made PCs and shotguns.
i-it doesn't happen to have explosive slug rounds, w-would it?
It's just a domestic Saiga 12ga that's had a bunch of extras strapped on to it. Yes, it's a meme, but it works
fin stabilized high explosive slugs sure why not?
12 gauge is conveniently close to .75 caliber
That thing looks like it jams hard if you so much as get a grain of sand close to it.
Yes, Iraqveteran8888 is a meme.
FUUUUUUCK now I have to buy it. I wasn't going to since I just bought another gun but I need to be a SPESS MEHREEN
Highest cyclic RoF shotgun. Apparently the gas settings are really finicky and you need to fine-tune it to whatever your shooting
I'd buy one if I lived somewhere that had freedom and it wasn't so fucking expensive
realisticly can plastic be professionally coated to look like that
You can diy it if it is light, or you can paint it. Do they make an fde?
AK target grip + 3d printed shell + Paint + Slugs
A good time.
isn't a bolter technically a gyrojet gun?
Kind of. The actually projectile is similar to a gyrojet but it is held in a shell case with a powder charge that kicks the round out of the gun before the rocket ignites and provides recoil to operate the action.
Ok, so its a hybrid then, kind of the small arms answer to rocket assisted artillery shells.
What the fuck is the point of the rocket motor? I always figured bolters were close-range weapons. Can't muh spess mahreens handle almost unlimited recoil?
Cerakote is pretty durable and you can use it on plastics.
Well three possibilities. For one thing people besides space marines use bolters. Normally these are really jacked people but still.
And those are .75 cal shells, it would probably produce a lot of recoil to get them to proper velocity out of the barrel normally.
Also maybe any fuel that hasn't been burned when the shot hits adds to the explosion?
But I think the real reason is that in the late 80s someone at GW thought rocket guns would be pretty sick and then later someone else tried to gently retcon them into being more practical
this. its metal as fuck. and brits dont understand guns.
>depleated deuterium
water?
Alright, you slack jawed fucks. As someone who dabbles in the lore of this universe (and it's fantasy counterpart) let me explain to you all how this weapon works. Whoever thought of this goddamn gun is way ahead of their time.
PART 1: Bolters, their anatomy, and how do they work?
Bolters are select fire, .75 caliber smoothbore guns. They have a myriad of ammunition choices (like an actual shotgun does) but we'll touch on that later. The big question you all seem to be asking here is "what the fuck do they fire" and "how does that shit work?" Well buckle the fuck up, because it's pretty simple.
>the projectile (a rocket) is propelled out of the barrel by an initial charge that is just powerful enough to launch it out of the muzzle (and maybe a few yards further) before the rocket engine kicks in
>the rocket engine can usually travel up to around 300 meters before petering out
>they are fin-stabilized projectiles, usually of the AP-I variety
PART 2: Ammo
Now, Bolter rounds, as previously mentioned, have lots of goddamn variety in ammunition choices. This can be summarized by the following:
>Typical Bolter Ammo: Loaded with light high explosive, mostly focused on penetrating soft armor and exploding into a medic's worst nightmare
>Hellfire Ammo: Replace light explosive with highly caustic acids that will eat through organic matter like WP eats through, well, anything.
>Inferno Ammo: Literally WP ammo
>Subsonic Sniper Ammo: Meant to be used with silenced Bolter sniper rifles/carbines. They have no rocket engine, and are just gigantic slugs. They are optimal AP rounds for literally anything that has a pulse and is hiding behind some sort of armor or carapace
>Kraken ammo: Adamantium sabot bolter rounds. Enough said.
>Dragonfire ammo: Hits cover, shoots super-heated rocket fuel into the hole left by the initial bolter round, essentially acting like tiny flamethrowers ala RShG and M202 launchers but smaller
Weird exceptions to the above:
>There's always weird shit going on in the imperium and weird shit happens from time to time
>The Death Watch (the Space Marine equivalent of SF) has an ammunition that is specifically made to prevent Necrons from phasing in and out of reality, big news if fighting in their domain
>There are weird .60 caliber bolters that were around somewhere before the Horus Heresy, still in limited use though their ammo is difficult to find unless you have a direct source from a forge-world (pro-tip: you probably won't)
>Armor-piercing ammunition with the express intention of shooting through power armor, or terminator armor (holy shit), it's made with an unstable highly pressurized and superheated plasma that will punch holes in power-armor similar to how a shaped-charge works irl
>some have under-barrel attachments, including but not limited to GLs, Flame throwers, goddamn plasma guns, super plasma-cutters (melta guns), and even other bolters (or a chainsaw?)
PART 3: HOW THE FUCK DO YOU SHOOT THIS SHIT?
Bolters are made expressly with Adeptus Astartes in mind. The suit is slaved to the gun's bore, and your targeting auspex (a HUD) will show you where the gun is aiming. This can also be further augmented with the attachments of optics. Instead of shouldering the weapon to aim them, the optic is slaved to the targeting auspex so that you can get a nice visual of what you're aiming at with your 4x-100x optic depending on what you've mounted.
The recoil is usually considered too extreme for most dudes to handle (though Catachan jungle fighters seem to do fine with them, but then again, they're beefy fucks). The imperium has literally deemed it a gigantic safety hazard for a normal human to get their hands on one, since even with good intentions these weapons can be a huge liability for their squadmates, or anyone else around them should they lose control. The punishment is pretty much summary execution if you're caught carrying one.
is there any modern rounds that would be effective against the plasteel armor? 20mm depleted uranium rounds from an anti material rifle maybe?
>using the words "Imperium" and "safety" in the same sentence
It's more so that because the bolters are designed with Astartes in mind, they are too unwieldy for a normal human to use with any kind of combat effectiveness.
It's far easier to issue said normal human a plasma gun and tell him that if he damages it, if he's lucky the Commissar will execute him for incompetence and willful destruction of Imperial property because the Tech-Priest that maintains it will turn him into a servitor.
Rather have an aa12
40k was fucking metal. why did they sanitize is and make it serious
Everything is just ARs now with more spikes. Guns r gay I quit.
its closer to an AK
FOR THE EMPERAH
i thought that was a nerf gun, jesus its ugly. why is everyone obsessed with making call of duty reality? i just don't get it
I love the knights aesthetics of old Warhammer space marine armor was a perfect blend of future tech and old style armor, hate that new Primaris garbage.
indeed it's a water gun
this is the opposite of timeless. for all intents and purposes this gun never existed, it was just a mass hallucination fueled by ADHD induced call of duty fever dreams of video game concept artist autism. this is not a gun it never existed
this gun was probably designed by italians thats why its all fucked up
>is it a meme?
I think it's a firearm.
>Adamantium sabot bolter rounds.
that's just retarded, if you discard the bolt you have no acceleration, shaped charge warhead or hedp would make more sense. not that it would have much pen at those calibers.
>Dragonfire ammo: Hits cover, shoots super-heated rocket fuel into the hole left by the initial bolter round, essentially acting like tiny flamethrowers ala RShG and M202 launchers but smaller
the absolutely most retarded thing i ever read and rshg is thermometric doesn't work if it's suppressed.
>The imperium has literally deemed it a gigantic safety hazard for a normal human to get their hands on one, since even with good intentions these weapons can be a huge liability for their squadmates, or anyone else around them should they lose control. The punishment is pretty much summary execution if you're caught carrying one.
bullshit they are just expensive especially their ammo. the bolters themselves are so bulky and weight so much that you can't possibly feel any recoil from a gyrojet round. so that's out of the window.
the reason ig doesn't use bolters is lasrifles are several orders of magnitude more cheaper and economic and still blow a fist sized hole into a dude.
bolters gyrojet action is literally retarded at the smg range they are usually used.
gyrojet shines well outside the few hundred meter range. the projectile keeps on accelerating that means if a sniper fires it the time of flight is greatly reduced trajectory is much flatter there is almost no recoil and you can easily make the round with minimal electronics home in on the laser pointer from the rifle which makes extreme range shots to breathing/moving targets possible.
there should be gyrojet snipers and battlerifles only. within a hundred meters a high powered traditional guns with slug or ape ammo would make sense especially if you have servos and heavy ass guns machined of slabs of steel assisting with the recoil. space marines with bolts is the biggest fucking meme.
at least it's not turkish
It looks like a CNCed AK with some fucking gaymer faggotry thrown in.
reminder that IV8888 is a fucking shill and that he makes infomercials.
it actually has a few sensible improvement over saiga and a not overly spergy design you should be impressed.
I think you need to understand that the optics for a bolter are made specifically to be used with a targeting auspex. GW has constantly ignored this by creating models without helmets that can also carry bolters, like Space Marine captains or Sororitas. But GW loves to ignore their own lore so long as it sells more models. Sisters of Battle are all supposed to be helmeted to interface with the targeting HUD, same with Inquisitors and Spess Muhreens.
There's throwaway lines in codexes for space marines that when a space marine takes off his helmet, he loses most of his combat efficiency in lieu of heroism among his comrades. But that is literally never reflected on the table top or in the vidya gaems, with the exception of most helmetless captains are meant to be played as CC characters (probably because of their lack of helmets). A majority of the liability comes from this lack of an ability to aim properly. However, considering that there IS an initial explosion to propel the gyrojet out of the barrel before the rocket motor engages, it could also be argued that the select fire recoil of a bolter is just way too intense for normal humans to deal with. I think there was a line somewhere in 4th edition IG codex that explained that most IG veterans with bolters can only fire them in semi-auto.
Sig Brace Variant
>optics for a bolter are made specifically to be used with a targeting auspex.
that too there is no other way to do it in that fucking armor. you can fire up close and personal from the hip and you can use any sight with a bolter if you are light infantry tho. you won't get as good targeting data like gravity wind coriolis distance travel time and and who knows what auspex has. but it would be good enough in rifle range.
>However, considering that there IS an initial explosion to propel the gyrojet out of the barrel before the rocket motor engages, it could also be argued that the select fire recoil of a bolter is just way too intense for normal humans to deal with.
yeah so humans can fire a 40mm grenade from a light launcher or auto fire a .50bmg from hand but somehow they can't fire gyrojet rounds from a big ass slab of metal? nah leave me alone with that bullcrap!
>explained that most IG veterans with bolters can only fire them in semi-auto.
that's because it's too expensive to spray and pray? the recoil from a short barrel like that would be laughable. also to use a heavy charge behind a delicate gyrojet round is retarded.
the rounds are much heavier and the initial propellant is much stronger than modern day weapons.
why would they be? warhammer armor ratings are ridiculous with today's standard. a bradly would be a heavy tank in wh40k.
no way
i kid you not frontal armor of a land raider is 300 rha or something like that. predators are less than that. the projectile speeds of wh40k rifles where listed are absolutely abysmal. it's like ww1. a modern stryker battalion would roll over them space marines like a biker gang would on a bunch of nuns.
Not a shotgun or rifle because it doesn't have a stock
too long to be a pistol and because it has a second grip therefore is designed to be two handed.
Couple all that shit together and you get an "other" type firearm
Yeah, it's literally just an overengineered and overpriced Saiga 12, just like all of Memetech's other products.
jesus guys it's just short barrel version
>they didn't fuck with what works but improved on hellish slavshit looks and ergos
>this guy complains
>bunch of nuns
like, sisters of battle?
no like catholic nuns. with vows of non violence and muteness.
give me sauce on this
>improved on looks
That thing is fuckin ugly. And how are the ergos any better except for maybe muh selector switch?
i have fired several slavshit weapons (not a saiga to date sadly) that looks like a downright improvement in all aspects. fire selector mag release grip stock sights rails takedown. what's not to like?
jelly poorfags
>Yeah, this thing might cost $2k more than a functionally-identical Vepr 12, but we added rails and flip-up sights!
It's not like we're comparing an Anderson AR-15 to a Knights Armament here. This is a 12 gauge memegun people buy to blast watermelons with from 15 feet away.
>buy this shotgun nobody asked for that costs as much as a SCAR 16, or you're a poorfag
whether the improvements worth the price-tag is a different question altogether but i still quiet like them.
I mean, it's probably a fun gun to shoot, but I don't think I'd ever buy one even if I was a millionaire. I already own a Saiga 12, but I'd buy a Vepr 12 or one of the many cool semi-auto shotguns out there before the Origin 12. There are just so many guns on my list, that I could never justify buying this thing.
if i had a range i would definitely buy one or two.
people would go crazy to play with it. and it eats shells like nobodies business with those drum mags.
30 round mag dump in a little over 4 seconds is pretty impressive
my dick can only get so hard
sounds legit.
didn't FPS Russia get vanned after partnering with Eric?.
Whats the best weapon to kill Eldar with?
chain blade
>almost $3000
HAHAHAHAHAHAHHA@!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
my dick
u gay bro?
2800 vs 50
In the words of /tg/, it's not gay if it's an elf.
Adam savage literally just uploaded a 1 day build video where he paints a nerf gun
Look it up on youtube
I'm not spray painting a $2800 gun. I know there are professional services that paint guns with a more permanent coat
I never understood how /tg/ is so schizophrenic about wanting to either genocide elves or fuck them
It's the reaction to the span of people who play elves.
krylon fusion for plastics and PVC
If they made this variant I guarantee tons of grognards would go buy it just for the novelty.
Elves are smug assholes that present just one more threat to humanity.
At the same time they can be sorta hot.
It also doesn't help that the people who want to fuck the elves aren't necessarily the same as the people who want to kill them.
Alot of /tg/ people are sick of hfy or just like elves, or are waifufags and care more about waifus than plot or anything like that so they may support elves in favor of some fuckin instead of humans.
Or maybe they're pacifistic and want peace.
Not one of these boards has a true hivemind.
I think at least, no hiveminds on all the ones I've browsed so far.
It all works out in the end.
That's my fetish.
Some of them have augmetic eye replacements, so there's at least a bunch who can go without helmets and still aim perfectly.
the bait must flow
what's the point of a sword that can only cut an inch deep? especially against armor that's an inch thick.
