That's called a front sight post.

Laser

Sorry I was being gay.

I mean is in what's that attatched to the top of the quad rail?

Trijicon acog, they actually are trash.

MILES laser

Honestly that seems like a waste of money. How often do they really come in handy?

Thems fighting words

How the fuck are ACOGs trash?

A guy with a GED and felony.

Fragile, hard to use properly unless you have perfect 20/20 vision in both eyes, no adjustments so you're forced to Kentucky windage everything.

They're actually incredibly rugged, and you don't have to shoot with both eyes open you flat headed mongoloid

>Fragile
Stopped reading here, ACOGs are some of the most rugged and durable optics available.

>no adjustments

This is just plain false. Do you lie about everything on impulse?

It's for night time, you can't use your sights for shit with night vision sticking out in front of your face

>How often do they really come in handy?
Every time the sun goes down or you enter a dark building

Maybe the civilian models are different but the ones we had in the USMC didn't have easy-adjust windage/elevation and you were only supposed to change it when zeroing and you needed a tool to do so.

>They're actually incredibly rugged
Then why have I seen the prism shatter on ten different ones and several others totally lose zero just from light field use? Might be "rugged" for the range or stationary hunting but they start having problems once you actually expose them to anything near combat conditions.

>you don't have to shoot with both eyes open you flat headed mongoloid
That's the only way it wasn't a pain in the ass for me to use. Whenever I tried to shoot with one I closed I ran into eye relief and scope shadow issues out the ass no matter how I mounted it.

Please stop posting

Its a magnified combat sight made to hit man sized targets. Windage shouldnt need to be adjusted once zeroed.

>front sight post
But how do you fold it down?

>but the ones we had in the USMC

was this all in your head ?

ACOGs have been USMC standard issue for like a decade now. What are you talking about?

>for like a decade now
Over 3 decades now

>been deployed twice to Iraq
>have shot niggers in tal afar and Mosul using ACOG
>random post on the internet calls them trash
Shut up faggot

Trijicon TA31RCO, the ones marines use are externally adjustable without need for tools, in fact every single previous model marines had (have) are adjustable without tools

There's always at least one sour grapes poster when it comes to ACOGs

>the ones we had in the USMC didn't have easy-adjust windage/elevation and you were only supposed to change it when zeroing and you needed a tool to do so.

If you were in in and you believe this, you must have been off sucking your rackmate's cock in the portashitters during range week because this literally gas nothing to do with how they're used.
I hope I'm being trolled, fuck.
I'm angry at the though of someone claiming to be a Marine, thinking that ACOGs are meant to be dialed in by dope like a fucking sniper scope.

You've clearly never owned an ACOG in your life.

Lol I bet this guy bought some Chink fake off Wish for $25 and now thinks real ACOGs suck as a result

>I wuz in dah muhreens
Uh yes, I'll take "things that didn't happen" for 800, Alex

>insert trump.jpg
WRoNg

Your trying to tell me not one of you fucks have served?
>theres gotta be one of you playing dumb that knows that the laser on top really is.

> Trijicon TA31RCO, the ones marines use are externally adjustable without need for tools, in fact every single previous model marines had (have) are adjustable without tools

This is false. I was in from 2007-2011 and my acog needed a coin or casing to adjust the wind age and elevation.

PEQ

Me responding
Here’s your answer
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/AN/PEQ-2

Now that lasers have been covered, can we make this a issued optics question?

I've heard that infrantry have been issued the Vortex 1-6x? Is this true, or was the 3 Gun guy I was speaking to talking out his ass?

If true, who typically gets issued these, how did they hold up, and what the fuck are you supposed to do when it's green screen time?

Attached: razor-1-6x.jpg (1000x750, 51K)

I personally haven't seen it in typical line units, but it's possible that there's some folks out there running them on DMR's.

In our unit, you can run your own optic as long as it doesn't shit the bed.

yea it's not though

Magnets.

Get a mallet and smack it hard, it doesn't fold back up tho.

It's not a PEQ-2, you retard.

AN/PSQ-23 laser rangefinder. Why it's on an M4, I don't know.

Holy shit you fucks really suck that government procurement dick. Absolute delusion.

Okay since Jow Forums wants to be retarded that's and AN/PSQ-23A STORM. It's combination range finder and infrared aiming laser. Typically you would mount them on heavier weapons, but since that one is mounted on an M4 the person carrying it is probably a weapons squad leader or a mortar section leader. If is a WSL then he'll be using it to guide his gun teams to targets, if it's an 11C then he'll be using it to shoot range and azimuth, likely for direct lay fire missions with 60MM mortars.

Literally constantly
You are a faggot, a liar, or a retard. There is no other answer. ACOGs are probably the most rugged optics you can fucking have now.

OP it's an old PEQ, don't know what number off the top of my head, was just an E-nothing when they started getting replaced

Isn't that an IR laser? One side of it produces a beam for long range spotting (using NVGs of course) and the other produces a broad IR 'light' for use in CQB situations with NVGs

It's a laser range finder

>OP it's an old PEQ
No, it isn't you dumb fuck. As I already said in this post , it's a AN/PSQ-23. They're a new item.

>most rugged and durable optics available.
SCAR-17 says hi, and adds that ACOG is a onions latte sipping faggot

That big ass laser is called a “storm” typically fisters use them cause they have a laser range finder

>Honestly that seems like a waste of money. How often do they really come in handy?

Have you ever had to shoot at night with NODs on? They are extremely useful not just for you actually shooting but also pointing out what you're shooting at to everyone else with you.

ACOG sight, hand grip on the bottom and I forgot the nomenclature for it, but the thing with the 550 cord on it is like a laser pointer/IR laser marker for use with NVGs, mainly. PEQ 15 I think its called, but that looks like to be an earlier model.

Literally the same function as a PEQ 15, dumbass

>laser rangefinder
>same function as a laser aiming module
Ok dumbass.

Read the thread you fucking moron.

>range finder
I would fucking love a rail mounted range finder.

Ok Elmer

SCAR is the most s o i rifle imaginable. It's literally the Mac Pro of guns plus it looks like it's wearing an Ugg boot.

Yeah, and thats easy as fuck. Literally jam any flat shit and turn. Saying you need a tool makes it sound like sone assembly required bullshit, versus cramming the edge of a spent round casing and twisting it a few clicks begore slapping that shit and rock n rolling.

The point is, the damn things are durable as fuck

>hurr durrr why did military gear break in the field, thats impossible it must be cheap shit, it cant have anything to do with the objective fact that being issued to grunts WILL get a piece of equipment broken, guaranteed

And theyre easy to use, despite faggots claiming that

> i have trouble getting proper sight picture because Im a fucking retard who blows off basic shooting/aiming technique so I blame the gear for not being barney-style simple like in my CoD games

Which is basicallly what we're blasting that one fucking ASVAB waiver for.

Go buy one?

The RCO is meh to be honest, having 4 power is handy as fuck, the reticle is easy to use, and they are durable. But 4 power isn’t good all the time, and it has shit tier eye relief (makes up for it with FOV). Saying it’s indestructible is a myth I’ve broken three of them, but I have shot table 3 with a broken prism and still hit every target. I would rather have an Elcan but the Acog is better overall

Lazor beam to shoot down enemy icbms before they sink the carrier.
