Should the Coast Guard have ships like Aircraft carriers or Light Carriers/LHD's?

No you retard because they do not have to carry troops/heavy equipment or a large number or aircraft. A helipad for two helicopters is more than enough.

No. Why would they, stupid?

to better guard our coasts against foreign threats you fucktard

That's not their role, despite the name. I figured this out at a very young age. Why are you even here?

If you need a carrier to guard your coast just call the Navy.

I know it can be hard to understand, but the military can actually be used to guard your own nation and not just Israel.

>needing invasion tools to police coasts
a-user...

An LHD or two would be ok for mass search and rescue.

This.
But an LHD used for search & rescue would be good.

> mass search and rescue.
I THINK YOU MEAN MASS BEAN DEPORTING

How about a small helicopter carrier/personnel carrier/hospital ship?

Basically California is on fire and the coast guard has to ferry refugees from a port to the ship to save them.

Not really. A few ships that could carry 2 - 3 helicopters each would make more sense. There is no need to have 20 of them search one area.

Stop, I can only get so erect.

How about we sink the californian refugee boats and let the state burn instead?

See New Orleans 2005.

Or are you too young to remember?

The coast guard duty uniform head gear is a blue baseball cap.

They harass fisherman, and tow dead boats. Don't invest in a force that would get replaced by the national guard for any state side disaster.

I was never there, but I do remember. But wasnt mostly land based helicopters used there? Why would you need to have them on a ship? Surely they had the range to work from non-flooded land bases?

say what about my coast guard?

>t. paco the smuggler

Oh sick! Someone let him borrow a gun! I bet he felt cool that day before going back to grilling and washing his one boat.

he was KIA user

I believe it! There's no orange life preserver on! But as I'm sure you know, boating accidents happen

You do know where New Orleans is right?

Build a wall around California

>hadji boat aloha snackbared him
>this is the type of accident where funs go missing inna lake

Yes, but I might just significantly overestimate a rescue helicopters range.

Unironically bring back the seaplane carrier.
>carry a dozen or more inexpensive fixed-wing aircraft
>fly search and rescue with greater range than helicopters
>launch several aircraft at a time to cover wide areas
>launch and recover fixed-wing drones easily
>handle aerial firefighting
>planes can carry missiles for wartime use
>significantly cheaper and more versatile than an aircraft carrier
>can carry helicopters for rescue in rough seas

>Bring back something that is (with the introductionof the V-22) 100% outdated, and for the last 80 years has been 99% outdated

How about no.

most CG aircraft have enough range to cover a greater area, and with commercial airports literally everywhere, this is not an issue

Manning a single LHD would take 10% of the Coast Guards entire manpower. If they did so, they would need to kick up recruitment heavily.

trump said icebreakers are a go, so maybe in this timeline we will get attack polar bears

>Implying they couldn't take those people from other positions and roles that wouldn't be missed.

>all admin/travel claim work is members responsibility

KIBA (killed in boating accident)

>Should the Coast Guard have ships like Aircraft carriers
I could understand the need for them to have helicopter carriers, because they make use of helicopters, but I can't imagine them needing to carry f14s, or anything of that sort.

>the V-22
top kek

Not quite, closer to 4-5% actually.

>How about we sink the californian refugee boats and let the state burn instead?
I'm fine with arresting the refugees, and them sending them back. One thing Id like to add is that the US should start charging foreign nations for the service.

Yes. The V-22

>The 154 foot patrol craft USCGC NATHAN BRUCKENTHAL is the 28th vessel in the Coast Guard's Sentinel-class FRC program. The FRC has been described as an operational “game changer,” by senior Coast Guard officials. To build the FRC, Bollinger used a proven, in-service parent craft design based on the Damen Stan Patrol Boat 4708. It has a flank speed of 28 knots, state of the art command, control, communications and computer technology, and a stern launch system for the vessel’s 26 foot cutter boat.

>One thing Id like to add is that the US should start charging foreign nations for the service.
except most countries except cuba dont want their citizens back

Land Air Bases get the job done well enough, no need or ability to justify an aircraft carrier

They do have seaplanes which make more sense. Maybe a loading/unloading dock on the sides of ships would be a good option.

Canadian Coast Guard > USCG

You know what does SAR with greater range than helicopters? Fixed wing and Ships, no need to fuck around with an aircraft carrier

there the same frend

Attached: us and canadian coast guard ice breakers.jpg (3000x1993, 1.46M)

Nah CCG does very minimal enforcement, mostly SAR, Icebreaking, environmental response and buoy maintenance, catching smugglers and shit is the Navy and RCMP’s job, way better model imo

>except most countries except cuba dont want their citizens back
I dosn't matter if they want hem back, or not. What matters is that they pay for the service, and nonpayment would open up different avenues to collect payment.
I believe that this would make a few positive changes when it comes to dealing with refugees, and that it would lighten the burden on the nations being invaded.

>lets take money from countries where people are escaping from their country not having any money
its like you secretly want them to come

>doesn't know that aton is the overwhelming majority of missions carried out by uscg

>lets take money from countries where people are escaping from their country not having any money
Yes. They can either pay, or stop being a country.
>its like you secretly want them to come
In which way was that implied.

YOUR BOATS ARE NAMED AFTER FUCKING TREES user... that is only about a third of their operations

i mean at least small boat stations can boss around old white people

They're going to get the LCS once the Navy drops the program.

Fisherman are cunts anyway.
Who needs to be harassed though is weekend fucks in sail boats and zero knowledge. Fuck those cunts

Poorfag here, how bad are yuppies on yachts anyways?

Do they get lost easily and cause a buncha navigation issues?
