I'm sure they do. They take that stuff super serious.
Rain or shine. Sleet or snow. Yes.
apparently the tomb has been guarded non-stop ever since late '30s, they change guards every 30 or 60 minutes depending on the time of year.
They look like fucking tryhards with these sunglasses.
It's such an American thing. No dignity, just massive drama and attention whoring.
>Oh yeah we need to wear the Cool Shades because of the gleaming white of the stones, which we polish with our dicks every night after moistening them in each others mouths
I've heard they do it every two hours with less theatrics when the cemetery closes.
Edgy retards, kill yourselves.
Apologize my ignorance but... who does that tomb belong to?
t. non-murican.
The unknown soldier.
Any and all soldiers who were unidentified in war.
>It's such an American thing. No dignity, just massive drama and attention whoring.
Well actually it's a British thing. We've being doing it since before America was even a thing. Let me guess though, you come from a country with military parades...
What a shit job it must be.
wasp swarms?
t. retard who doesn't care about his eye health
It’s one of a soldier’s greatest fears is to die and have their body not be identified so their family can’t lay them to rest.
How many army points does it cost to deploy an American Tomb Guard unit in battle
Lots of countries have similar tombs though. Most also have guards like this.
Fucking waste of time and money to train these clowns to walk up and down 20 feet. Put a God damn camera and be done with it. Also, I have seen videos where the cunts snap at people, if one of these twinks stepped to me, I'd knock him the fuck out. His teef would be dancing down that floor placement.
The Old Guard has seen some deployments over the past few years to Iraq and Afghanistan. As of right now 2d Battalion is assigned to 3rd BCT, 2d Infantry Division.
nice bait
Please show me how many honor guards around the world wear sunglasses. None come to mind, becuase it looks fucking retarded.
>knocking out a member of the highest echelon of the US army
I'm sure you would alfonso, don't you have a nightclub to be getting smashed at or a girlfriend to be hitting?
T. Internet tough guy
I bet you’d punch your drill sergeant too?
Thats some pretty good bait, nice.
Herro!
t. someone who's never stood guard with the sun shining into the eyes for an hour
Obvious samefag
Yes
They're literally walking around a bright white marble floor with bright white marble monuments around it. It's like walking around in fresh snow, all the time, every day. Wear sunglasses or go blind.
>forcing a forced meme
What if i walk up to the steps and lay one big piece of steaming shit on the carpet?
Is there an eternal flame at the US tomb of the unknown soldiers?
Anyone know if they have ever had to face some edgy vandalizer who thought they could sneak by them?
I cba to google it but I think someone threw paint on it or something as some kind of vietnam protest
Maybe, but no one has yet to vandalize it.
No but there's one elsewhere in DC.
Could just be sunny out, and they dont want squinty ceremonial guards
If true, it really sounds like a shit job, but I guess they volunteer for it...
Has any guard ever had a heat stroke? Seems like a possibility if wearing 10 pounds of wool in summer.
nice
Lets see a picture of you.
I wonder.
Would the guards let you pay tribute? As in; place a glass and a bottle of whiskey there for the unknownbro.?
yes, but they have other people on standby to take their watch, they also do half watches (change guard twice as frequently) during the summer
>manlets need not apply
Originally a civilian watchman was responsible for the security of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Then, March 24, 1926, a military guard from the Washington Provisional Brigade (forerunner of the U.S. Army Military District of Washington) was established during the day-light hours. In 1948 the 3d U.S. Infantry "The Old Guard" assumed the post following the units reactivation in the nation’s capital. Members of the 3d Infantry’s Honor Guard continue to serve in this distinguished duty today.Tomb of the Unknown Rifle Inspection
A soldier seeking the honor of serving as a sentinel at the Tomb must possess exemplary qualities, to include American citizenship, a spotless record, and impeccable military bearing.
While on duty the sentinel crosses a 63-foot rubber surfaced walkway in exactly 21 steps. He then faces the Tomb for 21 seconds, turns again, and pauses an additional 21 seconds before retracing his steps. The 21 is symbolic of the highest salute accorded to dignitaries in military and state ceremonies.
As a gesture against intrusion on their post, the sentinel always bears his weapon away from the Tomb.
Only under exceptional circumstances may the guard speak or alter his silent, measured tour of duty. He will issue a warning if anyone attempts to enter the restricted area around the Tomb, but first will halt and bring his rifle to port arms.
The Guard wears the Army Dress Blue Uniform, reminiscent of the color and style worn by soldiers during the late 1800’s. Tomb Guards are privileged to wear the Tomb Identification Badge on the right breast pocket. The design is an inverted open laurel wreath surrounding a representation of the front elevation of the Tomb. The words "Honor Guard" are engraved at the base of the badge. A guard leaving after at least nine months of service is entitled to wear the badge as a permanent part of the uniform.
This tribute to our warriors has been guarded continuously, 24 hours a day since 1930, by the oldest active duty infantry unit in the Army, the 3rd U.S. Infantry, known as the Old Guard.
These soldiers that guarded the tomb on 9/11 already knew about the suicide attacks against America in New York. And when that third plane roared low and fast near Arlington Cemetery and crashed into the Pentagon killing 189 people, these remarkable soldiers did not seek cover or safety before or after the assault on the Pentagon. They continued to do their duty, and stayed on vigilant guard at their post, not forsaking their dedication to the Tomb of the Unknown or to America. In fact, after the news of the New York attack, the Old Guard brought in reinforcements to protect and guard the tomb.
Amazing soldiers, these people of the Old Guard that never leave their post.
And that's just the way it is.
They stayed safe in a deserted cemetery instead of going to help people and potentially fight the enemy on home grounds? Sounds like a bunch of pussies to me.
Go be edgy elsewhere faggot.
>having ceremony rifles
>fighting the enemy on home territory
they almost got planed because they refused to move
They do deploy though.
Check or wikipedia.
Weak bait.
No, only public officials during organized ceremonies can lay weaths etc.
It's not like the Washington presidental memorials
bidet
>highest echelon
From the look of that pic in OP, they must be what 5'7-5'9"? !25llbs soaking wet.
No, I'm was smart enough to get a college degree and a job before graduation. Not worthless and didn't have to apply to the biggest Government Welfare program, ie (US Military)
>tfw my local castle has been guarded constantly since 1580 and is still.
Felt a bit weird standing there myself desu
Obsessed
You would have your face smashed in with an M14 butt.
If it's that important why don't they just put a fence around it?
Could've been an officer. I'm a 2Lt and I make 50k a year including benefits. In 20 years I'll retire with a big fat pension as a Lt. Col. or Col.
And you'll pay for it all.
Meanwhile in Canada
Be respectful. For once in your life you turdlicker.

>not white
Canada is a joke of a country. The monument is guarded during daytime only, and only during the summer.
The rest of the time people climb on it and pee on it because lol patriotism is outdated and it’s the current year
Christ this is bad bait.
>Fight the enemy on home grounds
>In America
Shiggy
